Question about Samsung HL-R6167W 61" HDTV

Open Question

Tv would not come on at first. so would unplug for a little while and then turn back on. would come on eventually but with a messed up screen, green lines, etc. after it warmed up, and you would turn it off during a commercial and back on, it would eventually work its way clear... sometimes immediately.. also would hear noises like... so we took it apart and found pieces of glass in the color wheel. cleaned it all out and it worked perfectly UNTIL one night it made a huge POP and blew the bulb. We ordered a new bulb and replaced it but it kept shutting itself down with a perfect picture. So we ordered a new ballast to make sure it was getting a connection. new ballast didnt make a difference... Now it wont turn on at all... turn it on and it will go through its 3 cycles of trying to come on but the bulb wont light. (new bulb and housing cause we didnt wanna risk the chance of messing up the bulb) ... when even bypassed the heat sensor to make sure it wasnt that, and other things... any suggestions?

SOURCE: color wheel

could be a jumper on the DMD board that must be removed, look for a small sticker that points to the jumper, or it could be a setting in the factory mode, mute-182-power will get you in there, check the settings for the color wheel

SOURCE: Samsung DLP HLS4666W White spots after replacing ballast

No. The DMD bd has gone bad and needs to be replaced. You have two options to repair your tv. The only two options will require a trained Samsung Tech to do either. Replace the DMD bd or the entire Engine. The Engine is a lot easier but more expensive. The DMD bd is more complicated to replace and will take longer thus increasing the labor cost because aligning the DMD bd takes time to do it correctly.

SOURCE: Problem concerns Samsung HL-S5087W.

Hi,

3 blinking led light at the front panel is an error code for lamp malfunction. If you've already replaced the bulb and yet the symptoms remain the same, then high chance that the fault came from the ballast board because the supply voltage is present.

Confirm if the bulb will lit upon powering on the unit. Open the lamp cover, bypass the lamp cover switch by putting tape to make it in closed position (making it still the lamp cover is attached to the housing) and then power on the unit. Check if the bulb will ignite or will light up, if not, you have to replaced the ballast board.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

SOURCE: According to the description, the color wheel went

did you install the correct color wheel? Most of the samsungs had retooled bearings in some color wheels and often a jumper has to be installed for the color wheel to work properly. Your wheel should be a BP96-01103A another thing that can happen is the thin brown ribbon cable can get plugged in backwards and will prevent the color wheel from working also. That ribbon only has contacts on one side of the ribbon. I would double check that if the correct color wheel was received for your model.

Thats a very good possibility. The bearings in the color wheel eventually wear out. Have you noticed any noises lately when the green is messing up.?

When power turns off then screen turns green

Yes look for a loose connection in the powersupply, this mean holding up the circuit board and looking underneath. Be careful and unplug power from set. If you are not comfortable then have a tech do it. Maybe a bad cap in the powersupply also.
