This is dangerous condition. Call service technician immediately, and they might put the unit out of commission until repairs are made.

Locate manufacturer's website, and call manufacturer to get name of local technician qualified to work on unit, and this will get the unit back into working service quicker.

Soot means burner is not burning all the fuel, and venting is slowed.
Possibility unburned gas is entering flueway, and could cause explosion.
Clean burner parts, check vent draft, check gas pressure.
Catch unit up on required yearly maintenance.

I have a 1 year old boiler system in my small home. When the heat comes on while I'm in the shower, the shower water turns cold. Service man can't figure this out.

If there is a faulty thermostat or an electronic assembly defect, but if its an gas boiler a torn membrane or air guard or to little water flow by lime calcification
A Lime problem on the water flow that will make the membrane not pushed up if a gasboiler or minimal 60 liter water neccesary by electric boiler otherwise there is to little water capacity but it was giving you in the first time no problems before 1 year of age there could maybe a warranty to claim on material defects electric circuit beware on smoke gas outlet by a gasboiler to know its important in some cases to have a concentric smoke gas outlet because there could be a problem by use of an aluminum discharge pipe on the outlet because of galvanic current through condensation from flue gases interaction with the heat exchanger , inbetween a short time there is aluminum oxide, which can clog in a bend of the drain that could be dangerous IF its a gasboiler. with aluminium and messing and other materials in the heat exchanger , Avoid misery always choose for thermosetting plastic flue if unshure whats the advise by factory

Boiler ries to fire on heating or hot water but then shuts down after 10 seconds to F1 with the flashing red light, any ideas. clearly same principle as any boiler but I'm looking for someone who has...

that would indicate that the boiler is not firing up
If oil fired, been there done that
it is out of oil
the oil filter is clogged
the nozzle could be clogged/burned
the igniter wires need adj/replacement

if gas fired - similar issues but no experience

How do i get even heat thru out the house with a daka wood stove

http://www.hearth.com/talk/categories/main-hearth-forums.4/
You burn wood, and smoke goes up flueway.
You're not running chimney smoke through ductwork so you have a heat exchanger.
What kind of heat exchanger?
probably air since you're running through ductwork?
How much hot air or hot water is coming off heat exchanger?
How big of a space can be heated with that amount of heat?
Is the exchanger located in optimal location?

Considerations.
One room log cabin with fireplace will not stay very warm.
One room house with big wood burning stove in center, with hot flue pipe running across the room and exiting on far wall, will get warm-hot, but will cool off fast.
Why?
Because the BTU output of firewood is much less than electric, coal, oil, or gas.
Otherwise they would have made wood-burning steam locomotives. But the locomotive boiler cannot get hot enough with wood ... the boiler needs coal to produce enough BTUs to boil water fast enough to rotate the turbine and turn the wheels.

Maybe your wood stove output should be measured.
Don't forget a huge percentage of fire heat goes straight up flueway.

Black smoke coming out of exhaust

1) Danger. Sooted smoke indicates incomplete burning of gas, clogged air intake, dirty combustion parts, bad vent, and lazy yellow flame, and absolute danger of fire or explosion of unburned gas in flueway. Call for service immediately.

2) Add comment and include more information about brand, type and model of unit. And include if this is gas fireplace, gas water heater, stove etc. For more possible help.

My ariston boiler is not working it just shows A 01 have reset but still nothing any ideas?

Basic checks:-
water pressure in boiler
gas supply on
Turn boiler on then:-
does the fan come on - u can hear this at the top of boiler
does the gas valve click on
has there been a burning smell near the lower front [check the pcb]
check the co-axial flue is ok with no gaps between inner & outer [rare but not unknown]
If it's a condensating boiler check the condensate outlet tube for ice blockage especially in current weather

Boiler Venting.

There cannot be controlled venting of the flue , the products of combustion must have free flow to escape , The heat exchanger is above the burner which heats the water if you thinks this is high then maybe you a pressure problem . Or contact the makes tech line and ask them what they think the consumption might be for you heater .You may find this on google
