Sounds like a capacitor has gone. If you don't want to spend on a repair guy then home insurance might cover it if you tell them it's gone up in smoke!

I have a Polaroid LCD and the sound makes hissing, popping, cracking, buzzing, buzzer-like, beeping, and a couple other noises. It's so sporadic. It's drivin me crazy. Any idea what this might be?

get a can of air and clean the whole inside of the back,if you smoke near it,it will collect dust faster and will need to be professionally cleaned

Have a phiips tv had it in storage for over a year turned it on an the screen working perfectly but there a hising noise coming from the back of it do no what it is... Its a big bk tv not flat screen box...

hissing noise will be from high voltage regulator, i would suggest to do following:

1. switch tv off
2. remove plug from the wall
3. using air blower (compressor attachment - not leaf one!) blow the dust, especially from high voltage box section
4. connect the tv and switch on

if tv still issue hissing noise - follow 1 and 2 then:
3. remove back cover
4. use air blower again...
5. re-install back cover
6. reconnect tv and switch on

if hissing noise persist - check for blown capacitors on high voltage, replace if necessary, they have nasty tendency to pop if they are too long in storage, especially if tehy were overheated or frozen.

hope this will help you solve the problem, do not forget to vote...

How to remove stuck bonnet nut in shower

If you heard a hissing noise, you probably have a leak. In that case, it's probably still leaking right now, hiss or not. You'd better have someone come take a close look.

My car is jerking. It's a 2003 ford tarus. It also

Open the hood and find the source of the smoking. Check all the engine fluids-the oil level (and appearance-is it clean?) and the coolant level. If low on either, you may have a leak that is causing the smoking. The fluid may be dripping on the hot exhaust. Also check the transmission fluid and add if low. That may be the reason for the jerking. The hissing hose sound is usually a disconnected or broken vacuum line. That would not be causing the smoking, however. Just may make the engine run a bit rough, and the idle speed may be a bit higher than normal.
If the smoking has a burnt electrical smell, better have a shop check it out.

I have a 1998 grand cherokee laredo... recently i noticed a slight hiss noise while diving. when i put my foot on the bake its stops but after im done braking the hiss noise increases then slowly goes back...

rubber around what pump is ripped? Wherever it's leaking you need to fix that. Locating the actual leak can be done by putting a short length of hose to your ear and using the other end as a probe. As you get nearer to the leak source the hose will allow you to pinpoint it to an exact location.

Philips MC156- makes a loud hissing sound when switched on?How do i get rid of this and get the system working?

Do you mean audio hissing sound or is there smoke coming out the back?

In what sources does the hiss occur?

Audio hiss with the FM tuner selected would mean it's between stations or you don't have an antenna. Try tuning around the band with an antenna attached.

your tv is not properly tuned or reset it once & then see some improvement or your input signal is weak or loose connection near input.

TV screen wont turn on but just a loud noise coming from the tv

I think maybe the G-board needs to be replaced. A TV shop will have to repair it. They normally start around $200.00
