The filters are causing the problem. I ran into this same issue with a client. Once I removed the filter the hold function worked fine. It seems the DSL filter also filters out the frequency that the phones use to communicate with each other.

Make sure you have filters on the lines between your DSL and your phones. Use the line out from the back of your modem to split to your phones if you don't have any filters. You may have to take line 2 from the back of the DSL modem to send to all of the phones. This is usually a filtered source and should isolate your phones from the DSL. Put the filter on any other devices that are sharing line 2 too, fax, computer, credit card machine etc.

2 LINES PICK UP ON PANASONIC KX-TG4500

Sounds like you have the cords into the back of the phone mixed up. If you have a cord with 1 and 2 plugged into 1/2, great. But then if you have another jack also with 1 and 2, but plug it into 3/4, now you answer line 3 on second phone and line 1 lights up on first phone. Or line rings line 1 here and line 3 over ther. Gotta keep that straight and the jacks have to have identical lines.

My company has an Avaya phone system that uses Partner 18d phones. When you pick out the receiver the phone would go to one of our 4 outside lines, but recently on ext. 10 when you pick up the receiver it...

All releases of Partner
Lets say that you currently pick up line 1 to make an outgoing call, but you want to pick up your last line (in this case we will say we have 6 phone lines).
This feature is called "Auto line select"
To program Auto line select:
From extension 10 or 11:
Press feature 00
LEFT INTERCOM
LEFT INTERCOM
RIGHT INTERCOM
Enter the extension number of the extension you need changed.
press ** (start, star)
Then the order you want the lines to get picked up
Then ** (star, star) when done
When finished, press feature 00 to get out of programming.
So, in this example I would enter my extension number (22) and press ** (star, star) and press line 6, line 5, line 4, line 3, line 2, and line 1. Then I press ** (start, star) to signify that I am done programming Auto Line Select. And feature 00 to get out of programming.
Easy as pie.

We have a 4-line system in our office, but it is not working properly. For instant, when line 4 rings...it only comes into one of the phones. All lines are working properly with dial tones. If we would...

Now here's a conflict. Does line 4 work on any other phone where it doesn't ring? You say all lines are working properly wiith dial tones, tnen you say you can't pick it up from another phone.

I don't think these phones have "private lines", but the dial tone comes from the 2nd RJ-14 jack on the wall. On every phone, you could swap the plugs so that line 1 comes into line 3 and line 3 comes into line 1 (you'll lose the intercom) and see if you get dial tone on line 2 which will be the phone that works line 4. The point being to determine if you have a wiring issue or a programming problem.

You call your Nortel service tech, unless you know the installer password and are familiar with programming. You have to go back into set programming and reassign the lines.

I have the westell 7500. I have DSL with Verizon. The connection keeps dropping since day 1. which was about 5 weeks ago. The tech has been out about 6 times , replacing lines outside . rewired my house....

if you given parallel connection to phone means u have to use one filter for phone and dsl . in that filter 3 plagin will there 1-line in,2-phone,3-dsl or mdem. give connection to 1-direct wire comming for outside, 3- dsl modem, use 2- give parallel connection. if u not done this means when u pick the phone connection will get dropped. still go to this page http://www.rajasthan.bsnl.co.in/main/trsh.htm or call me 9740575949 moz-screenshot.png

Intercom / page problem with AT&T phones model 944 and 955

Do you have DSL on this line? Make sure you have filters on the lines going to the phones or take the line coming out of your DSL modem and split it to the phones.

Also, try unplugging your fax, computer modem or credit card machine and test the intercom. Sharing one line for several devices can make the intercom unhappy.

No dial tone, just buzzing noise - should be 2 line phone, 1 jack

What you need is a dsl filter since you are working off a splitter. You can usually get these for free from your phone company.

Hp 7401 all in one will not send a fax it makes a wizzzzzing sound and than reads scanner failure. this machine is a little over 2 years old and seldem used.

If the fax is seldom used, the conditioning of the line could be different or the modem damaged.

Pick up the phone on the unit and see if you can hear a dial-tone, commonly when surges come in through the phone lines and damage the modem component of the printer it can cause this issue and trying to place a call from the device can be a good test.

However, if you can hear the dial-tone using the phone and can call out on your device, it is probably not the modem and is related instead to the line itself.

If your on a company network or have DSL at home remember that faxes typically need dedicated analog lines and that DSL service, IP phones, or digital phone systems will often cause the modem to malfunction.
