SOURCE: hp laptop shuts itself down

Get a can of air and really blow the intake & exaust ports and ALL fins. A laptop cooler really helps with this problem but, you have to blow them out too.
Google HDD thermometer and download a temperature indicator. It will show you when things are starting to heat up. Mine runs between 25-33 degrees celcius and will shut down randomly around 34 or above.

SOURCE: i bought HP Pavilion dv5 6 months ago and fan not working

Your cooling fan sounds to have went out, causing it to overheat and shut down.It also could be something in the fan stopping it from turning.Try cleaning it or blowing it out with it off.But it mostly sounds to have went out.

SOURCE: HP pavilion laptop shuts down abruptly

It sounds like something is overheating to me. Also, it could be a bad motherboard. Try putting your laptop on a hard surface. I carnt stress this enough. Also, you can try cleaning out the laptops cooling vents with some compressed air (you can get it at pcworld). At the end of the day and it still wont work, send it in for repair. Good luck

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC. I push the

It sounds like a power supply problem (low voltage), or could be a battery going bad. Also, the vents to the cpu fan could be clogged up and overheating the cpu, causing it to shut down. You can spray the vents and area out with compressed air. Other than that, it will have to be serviced.
Good luck and hope this helps.

My laptop keeps shutting down

A little more information would help, does it get hot or is the fan doing overtime! Laptops are notorious for sucking in air to cool it as well as all manner of dust fluff and hair which block the air flow and cause over heat and consequently shuts itself down do avoid damage. Ckeck and clean air vents.

My hp 6700 laptop is not staying on when it is switched on. It keeps wanting to start up, but then shuts itself back down

The motherboard is to blame. These models had bad motherboards. Contact HP support and arrange to have the laptop sent in. There is a service advisory on their website if you dig deep enough. They try to hide it from ya ;)

Hp laptop shuts itself down

Laptops are designed (by software) to shut themselves off as a protection measure. The most common problem is high temperatures. Do you hear your fan racing while you are using it? Do you sit your laptop on soft surfaces (like the bed or carpet floor) while using it? Do you smoke around your laptop while using it? These are common things that cause high temperatures on your laptop and will cause it to shut down. May not be your case but just a though. I would take it somewhere or open it up yourself(if you are pass your warranty time ONLY) and clean out the dusk with some air.

Hope this helps!
