Bad Cell Phone Charger connection

Hi, I've had this Verizon LG EnV VX 8900 for about 5 months, and lately my charger (the cord as well as the cell phone outlet) has been giving me trouble. I don't know exactly why, but it's like I plug in the charger yet my phone just sits there and doesn't charge up, and I don't know why! And then the cord outlet in the bottom of my phone became physically loose, which is not good, and unexpected since I haven't treated it carelessly. For the first couple of weeks since when this happened, I just ever-so-slightly tweaked or moved the charger cord around in the cell phone charger outlet until I got the correct...angle, i guess? And at that point, my phone would charge. But today my battery has died and I've been here sitting with my phone for at least half an hour trying to find the right angle at which to plug my cell charger into my EnV and it simply will NOT charge, and I'm honestly starting to worry. After looking for online advice, I came across several other reports of customers with the same model cell phone and identical problems, claiming that the EnV is a faulty phone/design that should be recalled, and that the only way to fix it is to pay the 50 dollar deductible and just get a new phone. I'm a pre-med student (with no cell phone insurance...I couldn't afford it) who has literally no extra money in my wallet right now, and there's no way I can afford a new phone...I didn't think I'd need to buy another one 5 months into getting this one! I desperately need my cell phone for academic reasons (I'm applying for a prestigious campus position and I NEED my phone working in case I am contacted about the position). What should I do?

I'm sorry, I meant to write VX 9900 as the description for my EnV, in case that helps. Please help me, I honestly need some serious help with this, please.

if you look at the connection area on the bottom of the phone, its most likely the metal became enlarged or the thing in the middle is loose.

i suggest a new phone. if you have insurance, complain and they might just give you a new one.

If you go onto Ebay, you can get something called a universal cell phone charger. This plugs into the wall and charges the battery directly, rather than using the phone port. They cost between one and three dollars. I had the same problem and was told to do this and it works very, very well. Good luck!

Loose connection to LG phone charger

use something like a small screwdriver to bend the two metal contacts inside the phone socket up a little so they press more firmly into the mating contacts in the channels on the charger plug.

if the charger plug wants to fall out, you can bend up a cutout/tab in the top metal shell part a little so the plug "clicks in" a little better.

it's a bad design.

Wont charge

your charging port is loosely connected to *********** board. You need to go to a repair shop and get it fixed.

How do you dismantle the end of the charger?

Absolutely not. You must use the LG charger, or you might get an improper amount of current into the phone and toast it.

Ive put my phone on the charge, but it isnt charging, whats the problem? my env cell phone isnt charging when i put it in the charger

Your port could be messed up or it could be the charger. Take it in to verizon and they will look at it for free.

My daughter's LG EnV charging port

You can get a charger at factorydirectcellular.com. The link is
http://www.factorydirectcellular.com/home/universal/universal-battery-only-charger.htm

The charger charges the battery independent of the phone. It is the only one I have found and it works GREAT. I had a couple issues at first but the rep, Matt, bent over backwards to resolve them. I would recommend this charger and company to anybody. The charger is a universal charger and will charge other cell phone batteries as well. The only con is that it does take a little longer to charge than using the port.

My enV will not charge!

Hey i think i just figured out the problem to all the port charging issues for the envy and envy 2 phones with verizon. its not the phones, its the charger cord! the part that goes into the phone. it gets pulled out over time from pulling the cord out of the phone all the time. get a pair of pliers. grab the end and push the metal end of the cord against somthing hard, push it back in so it is at the appropriate depth. this should make it charge properly again!

Broken charger port

i have the same problem with my enV my friend stripped the wires to my charger at the part where you plug it into the phone so now to charge my phone i tape the red wire to the positive on the battery and the black wire to the negitive there will be a shiny metal goldish color thing (there like 4 lil gold bars) on your battery that looks like this --> (negative) | | | | (positive) | - | | | + | tape the wires on the outside were the symbols are - and + and try not to let it toch the middle bars on the battery or it wont work and dont cover the little bars up with tape put the battery back in the phone making sure the wires dont move to much and it should charge sometimes you got tape the battery onto the phone to make sure it doesnt pop out but its what i do and it saves you money on having to go buy a whole new one or if you know someone with the same phone give them your battery to charge it :)

Env help plz

The reason the phone won't charge is because the internal power port pins are broken off of their solder joints to the main board inside the phone. Wiggling it helps at first because the pins can still touch their connection points but after a short time that will cease to help. Google "cell phone repair". It usually cost around $50 to get it fixed with a new power port installed. Turn-around is usually 2-3 days.
