Audi tt quattro 1.8 2004 - radio says safe , what do i do now . i have no pin code

When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your Audi service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

Hi there. I have brought myself an Audi A4 2000 Model I don't have a code for the radio. Its an Audi concert Radio. the radio is now on safe mode What can I do? thank you

Hi,

Unfortunately I cannot supply you with a code but I can give you some very useful advice that will ensure you get your code direct from Audi for FREE!!

Not many people are aware of this and Audi Dealers often try to pull a stunt where they will charge you for this code. However..... read on.....

When your Audi was supplied new it came with a keycard with your radio details and the code for the radio embossed on it. On the back of that card it clearly states and I quote as near as I can to the actual wording.

"In the event that your codecard is lost - please contact your Audi Network dealer and Audi will provide the owner with the code for your radio for FREE"

I know that you may have purchased your car second hand and not from new but that is not the point. Audi themselves have printed this on the back of the keycards supplied with these cars and you are entitled to get the code for free.

What happens is that as changes of ownership occur the keycards get lost and subsequent owners are not aware of this promise from Audi printed on the back of the card. Audi dealers will try to charge but they are NOT entitled to do this.

Ring your local Audi dealer quoting the VIN of your car which you can find on your registration document. If you run into any bother with them asking for a charge then quote their own terms back at them and demand that they satisfy their own terms. If they do not capitulate tell them you want to speak directly with head office and that you will take it up with trading standards.

You will get your code - mark my words!

You should also be aware that these Audis cannot be decoded via serial except by the Audi Network from their own database and there is absolutely no other way of getting the code unless you send the radio to a specialist decoding workshop which will also cost around £40.

So - stand your ground - explain that you know your rights and you will get your code for free. One of the very few manufacturers that will supply for free - the other being Honda. The rest all charge.

Let us know how you get on. If you have any problems I may have an Audi Codecard here that I could scan for you but rest assured this is their own language and promise.

Hope it helps. Please do leave a vote for the solution. Thanks for using FixYa

My Audi Symphony ll goes into SAFE mode everytime I switch the ignition on even AFTER entering the safe code correctly and driving the car with the radio on, it will go into SAFE mode upon every ingnition...

It sounds as if you have dropped the constant live feed to the unit somehow. The constant feed keeps the power fed to your unit/system for memory backup. This also includes your code. The code must be used and entered when the unit is removed from the vehicle, or the constant power source is disconnected from the unit. When constant power is restored to the unit, the security code must be entered before the unit becomes operational.
Hope it helps

I have a 2000 audi a4 1.8T. My battery died and now my radio is in safe mode and needs a 4 digit code to turn back on. Does anybody know that four digit code?? I went to the audi dealership and they told...

You can find the radio code at: http://www.radio-code.co.uk/

The sequence of programming for 2000 Audi A4 radio is:
1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed.
2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDS" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt.
For example: we have the security code "5079". Then:
3. By the no.# 1 key you will set up the first safe code digit. Push 5 times on the no.# 1 button. The "5" number will be setted.
4. By the no.# 2 key you will set up the second safe code digit. Push 10 times on the no.# 2 button. The "0" number will be setted.
5. By the no.# 3 key you will set up the third safe code digit. Push 7 times on the no.# 3 button. The "7" number will be setted.
6. By the no.# 4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit. Push 9 times on the no.# 4 button. The "9" number will be setted.
7. Then push again simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys for confirm this safe code. On the screen will be displayed "SAFE" notice. Release keys! For few seconds a radio frequence will be displayed. The radio is now ready for use!

Please do rate my response. Thanks!

My radio needs a code and i dont know it, i just bought the car from smd audi a3 2001 model

It can be a horrible time trying to get the code 4 that radio. Who knows who set the code....... So first off, I would contact Audi if it is the stock radio that came with the car maybe they have a manual overide they can walk u through step-by-step. If it's aftermarket(A radio bought 2 replace the radio that comes with the car.) your better off just buying a new stereo. Infact....that's what I would do all together. Good luck 2 u.

I bought an Audi A3 secondhand with audi chorus Blaupunkt-WERKE GMBH 7648 245 380 SERIEL NO AUZ1Z2X678588 ,the radio is on a safe mode please help me with the code and the method to enter the code

You must retrieve the code that comes with the Audi's radio unit. To change to safe mode:
  1. Turn on radio. The radio display shows "SAFE".
  2. Press the P.Scan and RBDS buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on the display. Release the buttons. Do NOT press these buttons again, otherwise the radio will consider "1000" to be the code.
  3. Use Preset buttons 1 ... 4 to enter the four-digit code number from your radio card. Preset button 1 corresponds to the first digit, Preset button 2 corresponds to the second digit, etc. Each press of the button increments the number by 1.
  4. Once the code shown on the display is correct, press the P.Scan and RBDS buttons simultaneously and hold until the word "SAFE" appears in the display, then release the buttons.
  5. The radio should unlock and be usable shortly afterwards.
  6. If an incorrect code is entered, the word "SAFE" appears, first flashing and then continuously. You can repeat the above steps to unlock the radio once more, the number of attempts will be shown in the display. If an incorrect code is entered again, you radio will be locked for about one hour. After one hour - the radio must stay on and the key must remain in the ignition lock - if the display goes out, the you can repeat the above procedure to unlock again. The cycle - two attempts, one hour lock-up - still applies.
  7. If you lose your radio code, contact your Audi dealer.
