SOURCE: invalid computation

Hmmm, I don't think the problem is with your calculator. I'd be checking the accounting question again as I don't think you've got your annuity question structured right.

4 Year Annuity

14% Annual Interest Rate

Your contributing $4,000 per year over the next 4 years

and you already know the future value is $50,069?

You'd have to make annual payments of $11,878.93 (4 of them) at that annual interest rate to get to a future value of $50,069 (which has a present value of $43,632.24).

Are you sure that the FV isn't the trade in value at the end of the 4 years?

I belive this will fix the problem i was sitting here having the same deal waiting and waiting..then bam error 7 then i fixed it so thought i would put what i did.

go into your CF and delete all the unused CO times..for instance if your using 3 periods...delete all CF05 and F05 the last one should be C04=0 and F04=0 make sure your NPV is the same after messing around..then try to compute IRR popped up in 2 seconds for me.

In Casio Graphing calculators, MA error stands for Math Error. The calculation overflows the memory.

that is the correct way . Maybe you need to activate sdcard option on the new machine it could be off

Found this on another website. I have not tried it to verify, but it sounds reasonable:

*Insert a CF FLASH CARD into the front of the register before taking a "Z" report. Turn the manager's key to Z1 and press CASH AMOUNT TENDER to issue a BATCH report of all sales activity, which prints from the register's receipt printer. This report information is also automatically written to the CF Flash Card capturing the register's terminal number and date of the report. This data is formatted as a "TXT" file and can be open with Microsoft EXCEL. Use EXCEL to combine multiple register totals. Create historical report data and e-mail the reports to corporate or to district managers. Saves time and reduces transposition errors.*

*Use the CF Flash Card to save the entire register program before moving the register to a new venue where it can be reprogrammed in a flash with the new menu.*

The calculator has different worksheets.

To access TVM worksheet, press [2nd] and any TVM key : N, I/Y, PV, PMT or FV

To enter Amortization worksheet, press [2nd][AMORT]

To access Cash Flow (problem with unequal cash flows) Press CF, or NPV, or CPT or IRR

To access BOND worksheets press [2nd][BND]

For depreciation worksheets press [2nd][DPR]

For statistics, use [2nd][DATA], or [2nd][STAT].

There are other worksheets [2nd][Delta%], [2nd][DATE], [2nd][PROFIT], [2nd][BRKEVN],[2nd][MEMory].

These shortcuts will not get you anywhere if you do not consult the manual.

To calculate IRR and NPVEnter the cash flows as follows, remembering the sign convention:

I did not come up with this solution. Just found it for you.

- Clear previous data by pressing
**fXY**and**fCLX.** - Enter the cash flow at time zero using
**# gPV**[**# CF0**]. - Enter subsequent cash flows using
**# gPMT**[**# CFj**]. - If a cash flow is repeated, enter the number of times it is repeated (including the first time you just entered) using
**# gFV**[**# Nj**]. For example, three equal flows in a row would be entered as**3 Nj**. - When you have entered your last cash flow:
- If you are calculating an NPV, enter your interest rate as
**# i**(consistent with interval between cash flows) followed by**fPV**[**NPV**]. - If you are calculating an IRR, enter
**fFV**[**IRR**].

Can anyone provide the steps for calculating IRR on the Sharp EL-531WH?

Mar 30, 2011 | Sharp EL-531VB Calculator

Error 5 indicates that no solution exists. In an IRR problem, the most likely cause is that there was not at least one sign change in the cash flow list.
