Question about Saws

Table saw won't turn on.

Was using Craftsman table saw/model 137.248830. Went to make another cut, and it wouldn't start. Blew sawdust from box containing switch and reset button. Still won't start. Reset button seems "soft", like I"m really not pressing anything.

That reset is breaker and I would think that it should click when reset. I looked at a breakdown and the part number for the breaker is OLSL list 2.16 and they are in stock at Searspartsdirect.com If you have a volt ohms meter I would check the electrical starting at plug end of cord thru the breaker. Make sure you unplug tool before attempting. I would also take a look at the brushes for excessive wear and sawdust buildup. Let me know if I can help more

Check that a breaker has not been thrown, and there is power to the plug that you are using.

Reply your findings if this isn't it, and I will give you additional help.

I can no longer raise or lower the blade on my 10" sears table saw' model # 113.298032.

After some use the threads on the raising mechanism can become clogged with sawdust and resin.
UNPLUG the saw and look underneath up inside the box. there is a rod that runs from the wheel you turn to raise and lower the blade into the actual mechanism. Brush it clean and give it a good douse of WD40 to help clean it. That rod must turn freely so look for any obstructions that will prevent that from happening

Go to searspartsdirect.com and put in your model number. Look at the motor and wiring section. Look at item 16. The motor overload protector. (probably your reset button) WIth saw unplugged, unwire one sid of this switch and test with an ohm meter. You should read through the switch. If it is open then that's why the saw doesn't work. Many of this type of oveload requires quite a push to reset as you're flexing a klixon disc back to make contact. If is open and you can't reset, it's available there although a bit high priced.

My craftsman 10-inch radial saw (model#113.199200) just stopped working. I had it in the driveway cutting some wood without any problems. It sat for a half hour and I went to use it again and it was running half speed then before I could even turn it off it just died. There was no popping sound or smoke, nothing! It will not start. Need help, please?

My 10" Craftsman table saw will not start.

Check to make sure that the power is going though the switch. Check for power at the motor. If there is power going into motor, then the armature is probable shot.

When I change the tile of the arbor/blade I have to fight with the darned thing to get it back to 90 degrees for a square cut. Are there any ''adjustments'' short of dismanteling? Thanks and Cheers, Gary

not sure what you are asking, but if the cranking is difficult, try blowing out the sawdust with an air nozzle. I deal in craftsman table saw parts. I have found that several of their last 113.xxxxxx models have a major design flaw, they built the cases thinner & less rigid than previous models, these flex & bend, which would make cranking back to 90 degrees impossible. Best fix is to get an earlier case that will fit it, problem will be solved,as the metal is thicker, & has L's built in to stiffen it. Sears should have recalled these saws, most I get as parts saws are bent. If more info needed email me, Jim

Cant turn angle adjuster on table saw model 3400 craftsman

I would first look for debris/sawdust on the mechanism, clean it with compressed air and then try and find a dry spray lubricant if not temporarily use some WD-40 to free it up

Saw will not run

I had the same problem several months ago with a craftsman (shut down during a long rip), and the reset switch had tripped but did not actually pop out. I tested everything in the line between the power supply and the motor, and found out that the reset switch was not conducting. I was able to reset it manually before re-installing it into the saw, and it's been fine ever since. I'd test that before you start pulling the motor out, it would be a much easier fix if the switch was just sticking.
