What does a orange power light mean

please see the commentary. God bless you

  • The majority of laptops will display a solid green, blue or purple battery light to indicate that the battery is fully charged. Most manufacturers indicate that a laptop is in the process of charging by displaying a solid or blinking green, orange, blue or purple light. If your battery indicator light is green, blue or purple, the battery is probably functional, regardless of whether the light is blinking. If the light is solid orange, the laptop is probably in the process of charging.

Battery Error Coneventions

  • Many battery manufacturers use rapidly blinking lights to indicate that a battery's charge level is low. In general, a laptop will rapidly blink orange or red when its charge drops below a certain level until the computer is plugged into a power outlet and charged. If your laptop's battery indicator continues to blink rapidly in orange or red or if it remains red even when it is plugged into the charger, it indicates a problem with your battery or the charger.

My Acer KAV60 laptop won't turn on. When I push the power botton, it blinks green once then nothing.

Has the laptop been damaged? Dropped? Same on battery? Remove battery, try AC only. Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Reseat Memory mods. Test the DC volt output, at the laptop plug in, with a multimeter. Power issues are difficult to diagnose long distance.

The power botton indicator blinking amber light and if i pree any key the system comes up

You're going into sleep/hibernate mode.
Simply go to start menu, control panels, power options to change the time before this occurs, or to switch it off.

The power indicator on my dell d430 is blinking yellow and green. It works fine but someone told me that the CMOS battery is gone. Where is it located

Could be a number of things, the Cmos battery is unlikely however, as that merely maintains the date and time settings. You'll find the battery under the case at the botton of the laptop .

The blinking yellow / green lighst point to a faulty power supply, which may be failing. I'd have this tested firts to see it is putting out the correct voltage before opening the case. If it is working and charging the battery, then the issue might lie within the motherboard itself. Do you get any other issues with this such as Bios beeps on start up?

Gateway solo 1450 won't power up

Fix for Gateway Solo 1450

If you are comfortable soldering and opening the laptop, then this is your day.

I was fixing a Gateway Solo 1450 that shown only red light indicator. Push the power on botton and didn't respond. Did all sorts suggested reseating no availed. Here the solution I made:

1. Go to Gateway website and look for taking out the keyboard. That's the only support I got as far as user/service manual I need.
2. Take the 5 silver philip screws and 4 black screws from the CPU heat sink. Take out the CD-ROM with one screw.
3. Take out the palm besel cover. Note, the screws while taking them out by drawing on the paper their location.
4. Take out the metal that covering the 5 bottons. Again draw the location of screws.
5. Take out the remaining screws from the motherboard.

The main event.
1. Check the 3 soldered legs of the DC jack. If they are loose then Resolder them. If not still resolder them anyway.
2. I found out the Power botton was intermittent. So with a fine soldering tip (30 watts from Radioshack) and Soldering braid. Clear the soldering tip (pile it until no solder on it). With a steady hand use the braid each leg of the Power botton, then pull it with tweezer. Note the orientation is very important. Mark the front face of the power button. The good news you have 4 available switches to use. Next do the same to the last switch botton (a person icon from the dash board). I chose the last right botton. I switched their place.
3. Assemble the unit backward as you first disassembled it.
4. Check the memory. Use eraser from the pencil and rub the memory fine pins back and forth until they look shiny. Insert/reseat it/them.

Hope this helps you. Good Luck.

On button

Look at the power indicator. If it is not lit, no power is being supplied to the computer. Check the following:
  1. If you are using on the battery, it may be low and unable to power the computer. Connect the AC adaptor to recharge the battery pack.
  2. Make sure that the AC adaptor is properly plugged into the computer and to the power outlet.
If it is lit, check the following:
  1. Is a non-bootable (non-system) disk in the external USB floppy drive?
  2. Remove or replace it with a system disk and press <Ctrl> + <Alt> +<Del> to restart the system.
The computer's power management system automatically blanks the screen to save power. Press any key to turn the display back on. If pressing a key does not turn the display back on, three things might be the cause:
  1. The brightness level might be too low. Press <Fn> + <→> (increase) to adjust the brightness level.
  2. The display device might be set to an external monitor. Press the display toggle hot key <Fn> + <F5> to toggle the display back to the computer.
  3. If the Sleep indicator is lit, the computer is in Sleep mode. Press and release the power button to resume.

Intermitent problem IBM-R40

If I understand you correctly you turned off your laptop and since then have not been about to boot up normally, occasionally getting a blue screen. Typically the blue screen also has some type of error message, can you tell us what that is? You indicate that booting from the CD drive is not possible, is that because you don?t have a working drive? In any case this sounds like a problem with system files or possible a device driver and a CD drive is almost certainly going to be necessary. Let us know the answers to this questions and any other pertinent history relating to this issue and we?ll see if we can help.
