SOURCE: re:-DS Lite.WiFi set-up. Asked for a Access Point.

Hi,

The DS lite only supports WEP which would have a HEX key password, if you have a pass key or pass phrase then chances are you are using WPA or WPA2 which is not supported on the DS lite.

The WEP key is an older form of security and has been found to have some weaknesses but to be honest its still secure enough for a home wifi set-up.

Here is a link to an article explaining more about the differences between the two.

You can change your settings on the wireless router, but you will then have to adjust the settings on your Wii accordingly.

If you need any further help or advice please feel free to contact me via my profile page.

Regards,

SOURCE: The access point's security settings are not

This can be fixed.
All you have to do is change the security settings in your router to WEP
The DS lite only supports WEP encryption, the DSi supports WEP and WPA (which is your current setting)
Just change in to WEP, and setup your DS + desktops/laptops again. Thats all!

SOURCE: the access point's security settings are not

This means you've got a WPA/2 security connection on your router/access point, whereas the Nintendo DS only supports WEP or open encryption.
You can:
1) change your security from WPA to WEP on your router
2) Purchase a used nintendo wifi stick
3) Set up a second router or access point with WEP security specifically for your DS

Your network's security needs to be set to the WEP OR WPA security setting, as those are the only security settings that the 3DS is compatible with. Here are step by step instructions on how to change your security settings.

I'm trying to get wi-fi on my nintendo ds but it keeps saying the access point's security settings are no supported by the nintendo ds.

You need to change the security settings on your router from WPA to WEP. WPA security is not supported by DS. Go to your router's wireless page and under security, change the settings.

Nintendo WFC is only compatible with the WEP security setting, even when playing with a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL. WPA and other security settings are not compatible.
solution: You will need to either change your security settings on your router to "WEP" (recommended), or disable all security.

The access point's security settings are not supported by nintendo DS how can i solve this problem

The Original DS does not support WPA passwords, passwords you make up yourself to protect your network. The DS does support WEP passwords, a password randomly generated by the router.
You will need to switch your routers security to WEP or take off security entirely.

My internet says the access point's security settings are not supported by the nintendo ds. for help visit support.nintendo.com. that is what it says.

Hi weigels,

I see you are getting an error security settigns not support by your Nintendo DS.

I beieve that you are trying to access a wireless connection using your Nintendo DS, the error that you are getting is actually an error saying that your Nintendo DS can detect the router but since your Router has a Network key you then get the error security settings not supported.

for a Nintendo DS it does not support Router settings that have a network security on it, you will have to disable the Routers Network security for you Nintendo DS to be able to access the wireless network of your Router, this will also prevent your Nintendo DS from getting the error security setting not supported.

Note: disabling your Network security will open your Routers signal to anyone who can detect the signal.

I hope this helps.

Have a nice day,

Web setup

With a Wi-Fi compatible game inserted into your Nintendo DS, access the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings screen. Your game manual provides information on how to do this for the game you are playing.
  1. Tap Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings
  2. Tap one of the Connection slots
  3. Tap "Search For An Access Point"

The Nintendo DS will then display the name of your wireless access point.
If your Access Point has a blue, unlocked icon, tap the Access Point name, and then 'OK.' The Nintendo DS will then establish a connection with your router. Back out to the main screen of your game and your ready to play online.

If your Access Point has a red, locked icon, the Nintendo DS has detected WEP key security on your router. Tap the Access Point name on the Nintendo DS and then enter the WEP key for your router on the following screen and tap 'OK' to save the settings.

Tap 'OK' again and the Nintendo DS will then establish a connection with your router. Back out to the main screen of your game and your ready to play online.

If your Access Point has a gray, locked icon, the Nintendo DS has determined your router's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS. In order to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you will need to either switch to WEP security, or remove the security setting of your router when connecting with the Nintendo DS.
