So I've had the phone for maybe a week and I've charged it to full and the battery indicator says it's full but for some odd reason the phone just randomly turns off. I know every time I put it in my pocket it turns off so I'm guessing it's probably from pressure or something but then I had it in my hand and it turned off then too. It's really annoying.
We just bought this phone today and after a few hours, it just started rebooting randomly. We were getting ready to return the phone, and then updated the firmware and now have no more reboots. Here are the steps for a firmware update:
From the Home icon select, the OK/Menu button
Go to Tools
Scroll down to Update Phone (or press #) and press OK
Select Updated Firmware (or press 1)
Follow onscreen instructions
After the download completes, the firmware package is installed. For the last several hours, we've had no more reboots or power downs.

Ugh. The same exact thing happened to mine. I am so incredibly angry and frustrated! I heard that trying a new battery might work... I tried my sister's battery, since she has the same phone, and it was no go for me, but you ought to give it a try if you can... I did everything I could to try and fix it, but it won't do anything else!
It sounds like its a software problem and if you have only had it for about 5 months it should still be under warinty. Try calling your provider and tell them whats going on and see if they can send you a new phone.
Maybe the old battery is not working so you can try getting a new battery
or if you already got a new battery and it still doesn't work then it can mean either the battery model is not right or your phone doesn't support it.
I am on my 3rd LG Lotus and have had the exact same issues with my screen with all of them...freezing up, blank/black screen, and the picture being all scrambled, or even funky colors. This is all due to LG's brilliant design of the hinge on the phone. Notice how when you have the phone open the top part (with the screens) has a bit of give in it if you push on it? That "give" is the hinge pinching the wire that supplies electricity/data to the screens. LG has designed the hinge so poorly that it cannot withstand normal wear and tear of being opened and closed for even a few weeks before it begins to fail. Shame on you LG!! I smell a lawsuit coming on.....
As far as a solution, there isn't really one except for get a new phone if you can. Maybe even get the warranty on it (something like $7 a month plus a crazy deductible between $50-$100). After fixing it 1 or 2 times, you could have purchased a different phone. This is really upsetting because the Lotus is such an awesome design. LG, I hope you are reading this.
Mine did the same so I swopped the battery with wifes phone (which is the same) and mine worked like normal, i took it back to the store and they gave me a new battery but before that i played around with the usb cable and it was charging up and holding a charge so it's something to try.
