Question about Gateway 450ROG Notebook

1 Answer

Dropped my gateway laptop. Now it wont charge battery.

I accidentally dropped my laptop and it will no longer charge the battery. It still works fine but I guess it broke the internal part you plug your charger into. It worked for a few days as long as you held the charger cord tight to one side but eventually stopped charging. Do you know the name of the part I need to replace so I can fix my computer?

Thanks for your help,
Sheri

If you do not have either a manufacturer warranty or extended warranty from the retailer use it now. Contact them. Avoid telling them that you dropped the computer...you will void a manufacturer warranty. If you don't have either option then you can continue portability with an external laptop battery. They tend to be heavy, but they tend to provide 5 or more hours of portable use. The extended battery plugs into the same socket as your regular external power supply. I have included some links for product options.

Dell 1525 will not charge battery

Dell's take on this is that the issue occurred after the system was dropped, which they deem accidental damage. Unless you have Complete Care coverage, then repairs are fee based.

Since they will not warrant the repair, you can try and replace the motherboard yourself (about $100 on EBay) or you can take your issue up with the Dell Unresolved Issue team.

I dropped my laptop and now the battery will not charge.

Most likely its the DC Power Jack. Happened to me. You can find the part online by searching for "450ROG DC Jack" and then just resolder yourself or take it to a repair shop.

Dell 9400 battery problem

Hi bockobulb,

There's a good chance if the casing got damaged that the connector that connects the battery pack to the system was also damaged. First I'd suggest trying another compatible battery pack if you can get your hands on one. Bear in mind that there can be damage to the connector even if it's not visible.
