Battery on Nuvi 750

I have a Nuvi 750 that I bought a year ago. I've recently updated the new maps on the Garmin website. For the last month I could keep the unit charged but when I take it off the charger for 10 seconds it says low battery and shuts off. Can I buy an internal battery or something to fix this?

I want to updates my garmin nuvi

There are several online stores which provide map updates for Garmin devices. You can do a simple search for Garmin map updates to find several of these merchants. I upgraded my nuvi several months ago and found a lifetime update deal for about $100.00. With the lifetime option I can upgrade my unit twice a year for as long as I own it. Of course you can get a one time upgrade for about $70.00. I think the choice here is obvious.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 255w. I've had it about 2 yrs ago. Had recently gotten message that I needed to update maps, so I went on the website to see how much it would cost. Decided not to update maps,...

Did you try a reset. There is a hard reset button under the sticker at the bottom of the unit. It is located directly under the check mark on the sticker. It will clear out all you favorites etc.. so copy them first if needed. Gently push the reset and it will reboot and ask to confirm and choose yes. See if this works
I will attach Garmins contact info. Thanks for using FixYa.

When I bought this unit, I was under the impression that updates were free as well as tech support. I would like to update Canadian maps.

Have you gone to www.MyGarmin.com and do an update? If you brought the unit recently they would update for free.

As a Nuvi 760 owner it gets me around Canada with no problem with North American 2009 map

Can u tell me how to download free up dated maps for my garmin nuvi 660 thanks vicki

Hi Vicki, unless your nuvi was first activated and acquired satellite lock in the last 60 days (unlikely as yours was discontinued a long while ago) then you cannot get free map updates, sorry.

For models activated within the last 60 days Garmin offer a free update to the latest maps if the maps already on the product when it was purchased are an older version. After that, all updats must be paid for.

You simply won't find free map updates legally. Accurate maps cost a fortune to produce and update so nobody gives them away, even the few illegal downloads tend not to work and if they do work are likely to be out of date anyway.

The way that Garmin price their map updates, it's often better to simply buy a new Garmin with the maps pre-installed, although I appreciate that's not the answer you hoped for. If you do buy Garmin updates then you can either go for a one-off update, or for additional cost can buy a lifetime update, but it's limited to the lifetime of the device which is only designed to last three years anyway so may be poor value if you buy the lifetime update and your machine then dies of wear or old age.

I just bought my garmin nuvi 255w about two weeks ago. This last weekend we used it to go down to New Glarus, WI. In our route a section South of where you turn onto US23 it does not reconnize and keeps on...

Unfortunately there is always a delay between roads getting built and maps getting updated, verified, and finally into products in the shops. On top of all that, the nuvi 255w is a model which has been available for a while now, so if the store had your example lying in stock for a number of months it may also have spent a few months before that in a warehouse before supply to the retailer. Your 18 month to 2 years may sound plenty of time to ensure that your unit has the latest mapping, but in reality it may effectively be the best part of a whole year less.

Garmin recognise that this is a problem so have the "nuMaps Guarantee program". If you buy a new nuvi and register the product within 60 days of it first being turned on and acquiring a satellite signal, you will be offered one free map update subject to simple conditions. To find out what they are, click here.

To find out more about which map updates are available and how to install them, click here.

I hope that my answer has been of use; please take a moment to rate my reply.

Lost maps for Garmin Nuvi 750

If they are truly gone you'll have to buy them from Garmin. I would suggest to buy the Life Time update. That's what I did. Maybe it's just a software issue?? Get the free WEBUPDATER from Garmin here:

After installing WebUpdater once from the Garmin website, perform all future software updates from your computer. Simply connect your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start", "Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"
REMEMBER: It takes hours to do a complete a map update.
Unless you bought the Lifetime maps you may have to pay for current maps.

I HAVE A GARMIN NUVI 200 AND IT NEEDS TO HAVE THE MAPS UPDATED. IT IS 18 MONTHS OLD AND I CAN'T FIND A FREE DOWNLOAD FOR IT.

Map updates are free for units which are recently sold with the older maps and the new maps have been published, ie you just bought a unit in 2009 which still had 2008 maps on it after the 2009 maps had been released. Rather than recall all the units from the store shelves, they offer free updates on the mapping software. Continually updating the maps on 18 month old units is not free, there is an update charge. What is free from Garmin is the unit's software. Hope this clarifies your assumption.

I know I've tried. You either live with the old map or buy the latest version.
I bought the life time maps updates and I'm glad I did.
I've updated my maps at least 6 times.
New maps are about $70.
Life time maps are about $99 (when I bought mine)
BUT FIRST make SURE you have the latest software in YOUR computer and in YOUR Garmin before you load any maps.
You can get that FREE at Garmin here:

Your maps are old. You really need to update and it may cost you. I really like you 260. I have the same. For about $100 you get new maps for life. Well worth it. Or you can buy new maps as they become available, but those cost $80 each!! Doesn't take much to decide that.
