Check outr the back of the refrigerator. there should be a poanel that has the compressor and the fan covered towards the bottom of the back. take off and see if you somehow pulled wires loose on the unit or if something is now hitting the condenser fan blade causing it to not cool the condenser off.

Refridgrator's compressor run for few seconds and stop. No cooling

That is called short cycling and caused by a defective start relay, overload, run capacitor, defective fan motor or defective compressor and of course it needs to be diagnosed to have the fridge cooling again

Hi, was wondering if you could help. I have an Electrolux fridge Model ER6632I that has suddenly stopped cooling. This fridge is approx 8 yrs old. I opened up to the rear of fridge and found that...

Seems that the compressor has some fault within the unit as it takes in more current under pressure. Sometimes it can be due to fault within the compressor, failure of the valve , O-rings. Now shut down the fridge for about 6 hours and then plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge. If there is no ice formation we have a big issue as the compressor and gas must be checked out. , if RPM of motor is low check capacitor.

My side by side fridge has stopped chilling down, the power is Ok, and moter seems to be working, but no cold inside. A few months ago the freezer side stopped, but as i did not use it , i just left well...

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Intermittent fan motor & relay switch (4-5 sec.) - warm freezer

you need a new overload contactor or they call them an RTX also that powers the compressor it is located on the compressor body, also replace the capacitor that plugs into the RTX at the same time you replace the RTX that will solve your problem

I have a GE REfridge that stopped running....

The compressor never runs out of freon - unless you have a leak somewhere, which is rare - and besides, your compressor motor would be still running but you would not get cooling - the most common problem associated with this is control board failure, so compressor does not start at all. Try unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes and plug in again - see if this resets the control board - if problem persists or comes back you will need to call service and have them check the control board.

Before doing so, try unplugging and plugging back in after a few minutes, it might get things started again - if you have a manual knob for your cold control try setting the dial to off, then turn it back on all the way until you hear a "click" sound to confirm your thermostat is working properly - if you hear the clicking on the thermostat area, but compressor motor does not come on, call service.

Freezer and fridge tempeture increasing.

The black " tank " is the compressor . Will the fan by the compressor run ? If not , that is the problem ( fan motor ) . Are the coils clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc ? The brand and model number would have helped . Since the compressor is hot , means it should be good . The fan motor must be working , to help keep the compressor cool . Also , the back cardboard or metal panel must be in place when finished , or the fan will draw outside air instead of front air over the coils and compressor .

After moving fridge (and waiting 36 hours) compressor won't start

You should worry , the 12 amps is a locked rotor on the compressor , it may be the over load relay control on the compressor as well , try replacing the over load start relay first , they are not expensive , if this does not fix it you can try installing a booster like a rco410 but the comp. can not take that abuse for years from the booster. when the comp. is running normal it will draw roughly 1.5 - 3.0 amps.

Motor stopped running days after move

Unfortunatly in most cases it is more expensive to fix than replace. A compressor change is at least 3 hours. The other cost include the compressor, drier, recovery machine, recovery cylinder, silver sodder, torch fees, and so on. The compressor will likely cost around $300. A used fridge in the paper can cost less then $200. Please let me know if you need anymore information.

Fridge not cooling compressor works intermitently

If the compressor starts and runs for a few seconds it could be the relay. Or it could be the compressor itself has failed. When a compressor starts and runs for a short period it is possible that the relay contacts are arced together which would have both the start and run winding in the motor engaged at the same time for more than 3 seconds. This would result in the compressor tripping out on the thermal overload. It depends on what type of relay your compressor has. If it is a thermal relay, unplugging the refrigerator for about 15 minutes would allow the relay to cool off and reset.
