What do you do if the word ventilate appears on the screen?

Ventilate mean to run water through the wand to spin the flow meter.. On some machines you just twist the knob but on higher end machines there is a button on the panel that will dispense water. It depends on your machine.

Led reads "ventilate". What do I do?

Ventilate means that you need to run water through the system.. Open the knob on the right side of the machine if it a Master 5000, or push the right button and light it up, then open the knob if its a Palazzo.

Saeco coffee machine

It means that there is an air lock in the hydraulic system, and it needs to relieve the pressure. If you open the hot water valve for a few seconds that will clear out the message.

New Royal espresso machine

It means you have an airlock in the water system. It can occur when you refill the water tank also.
Quite often you can run the hot water nossle untill the airlock clears. You will hear it splatter and then it should be sweet to go.

Esppresso machine

This means there is air in the steam/hot water line. Turn on the hot water button and run it through until it stops saying ventilate. If this doesn't work, there could be more serious problems at work (clogged hose? bad flowmeter?).
