Question about Intermatic T101 - 24 Hr. Dial Time Switch - NEMA 1 Indoor Steel Case - Gray

1 Answer

Why is my motor making a loud clicking noise? I have power when I switch it to the "On" position. Switching the "Off" or "On" switch does not change the clicking sound. I have not used this since I

I have not used this since Sept. 2012 and I noticed the switch was in the "On" position when I looked in the box to investigate the loud clicking noise it was making. I flipped the switch to the "Off" position and the noise did not stop. I went ahead and plugged my water heaters for the chickens up to it, but I am a little scared that something might be unsafe. Should I turn the whole breaker off to cut the power from this and get it looked at or is it ok to use it? Sincerely, Concerned

Turn power off, and spray highly flammable WD40 vapor onto timer parts.
Wood surface will carry sound, like a guitar or violin ... apply sound deadening material between timer and wood surface.
Apply bit of white grease to motor gears.
Treat timer as any other electrical appliance and keep timer door closed to protect agains fire hazard.

Are you talking about the clock plastic gears for the white grease or the metal gears behind the clock dial? Is white lithium ok to put on the gears?

  • Gene Haynes Apr 28, 2014

White lithium grease is good... look at following link for taking apart timer:http://waterheatertimer.org/Photos-of-WH...

  • Nick K Apr 28, 2014

Thanks for the reply, I think my clock gears are stripped because the dial does not turn anymore. I can see one of the clock gears moving but the rest are not. I'll have to take it apart to see more visually.

  • Nick K Apr 28, 2014

One more thing, is it safe to leave this on if the clock gears are stripped until I get a replacement clock? Or should I manually overide switch to off?

  • Gene Haynes Apr 28, 2014

Remove trippers from dial, and set override to ON. The clock motor consumes 3 watts power. If it overheats it will simply stop working. As long as timer door is kept closed, there is safety from potenial electrical fire hazard. Above there is link about troubleshoot Intermatic timer, open link and scroll down and find fire safety section to prevent problems.

Wy dose the tv always make noise like some is poping inside it

popping inside electronics usually means it's power supply internally may be going bad.

Some units have "switching power supplies" and you might hear a very light click when it switches. Loud pops or frequent louder clicks are a bad sign.

How to change a starter motor on a 2000 Buell CycloneM2?

The loud Click click click isn't because the starter is bad it is because your battery doesn't have enough power to kick it over. Change your battery. The click will stop. Harley starters either spin without making any click noises or don't make any noise when they go bad.

My Samsung scanner says "Scanner Locked" What does this mean. It makes a loud clicking noise like it is about to breakdown. juliakrebs45@yahoo.com

If you look into the paper output of the printer you find a green lever. Pull it to the front. Open scanner lid and check the position of the lever.
Restart printer by switching off and on again.

When running it makes a very loud quite high pitched long clicking sound . What can I do about it as I do not want to continue to use it like this

If the noise is continuous from switching on and slows down to a stop when machine is tured of it has to be some thing on contact with the motor or the brush roller the brush roller is easy to check the motor isnt but is less likly to go wrong

Epson SX100 Scanner makes a loud clicking noise!

On the back of the Epson Perfection 1660 Photo there is a lever that shows a lock and a unlock by where you plug in the wire to the computer. It must be in the unlocked position otherwise it will make that loud clicking noise and not work. Hope this helps.

Rainbow SE makes Squealing Noise when switching it...
Posted by ray_s51 on Apr 20, 2008
My Rainbow SE works and runs strong but when I switch it on and off for approx. 20 to 30 seconds the motor makes a loud squealing noise. Do I need to oil something or what? Nothing smells, it does not make the noise all the time, but it does more often than not. Thanks

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Rainbow E Series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum.

The Rainbow has 3 fans in the bottom of the motor and if they are weak they will make noise from the motor unit. Watch out… the repair of the Rainbow may exceed the cost of a new motor of which will solve your problem of noise and separator --- compare the cost and the labor and make a decision. The separator is part of the armature, the separator should be able to be removed and that might be one of the things making noise. As normal maintenance the separator should be removed and cleaned after every use and re-installed, then place a newspaper or towel under the motor unit and turn on the Rainbow and spin the moisture out of the motor unit. This should be done every time you use it. If you have further questions please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer. . So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

W1 Making noises....??

The W1 uses metal rings that slide in place with a tiny hole in the middle to give the required apperture it does not have a diaphram that closes and opens to give the apperture... so what you here is the sound of changing the suitable ring ( or disc) with the apperture ... You can look in the camera (lens side) and change appertures, you should be able to see this happen ... don't click with flash though :) The sound is very low though if you here a loud click there's something wrong.
