from what i can tell, its not a bios error as dell computer have a protection system to prevent that. but, people, when you post these questions, include things like periods and commas. We can't tell what you are talking about when you use nothing specific. Software and bios versions only help so much when we can't tell what the issue is

Did a backup of the previous BIOS image occur before the failed update? Have you tried to restore that?

What exactly happens when you start the computer? Does the system hang at the BIOS screen? Are there any error messages? Can you log in to Windows? Details please

I rebooted my dell laptop and the disk had no drivers cant get on the net

Hi:
You need to get online on another computer, go to www.dell.com and download all of the drivers for your laptop to a CD or thumb drive, to transfer them to your laptop, if you don't still have the driver disk that came with it. You will need the Dell Service tag number off of your laptop, to ensure you get the right files!

Advent 7109a bios password

I cannnot claim ownership of this information:

found on:
http://www.tech-faq.com/dell-bios-password.shtml

Christophe Grenier has written a program that will calculate the master BIOS password for Dell Latitudes from the Service Tag number. That program is available at http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~skynet/zips/latitude.exe.
If you cannot boot your Latitude to run this program, you can get the master password for your Dell by calling Dell Technical Support at (800)624-9896.
Dell Technical Support will request the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the bottom of your Latitude.
If you were not the original owner of the Latitude, Dell will transfer registration of the used Latitude from the original owner with only the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the tag on the laptop.
To transfer the registration of a used Dell Latitude, fill out the Transfer of Ownership form on Dell's web site.

The flickering may not be caused by a corrupt driver, it could be the impending failure of the fluorescent back light of the display or its high voltage supply.

Trying driver replacement though is the first thing to try.
If the original driver is corrupt, you can try the following;

- Right-click on My Computer
- Left-click on Properties
- Click on Hardware tab
- Click on Device Manager
- Locate and open Display Adaptors
- Locate the video listing for your
- Highlight and delete this
- Reboot the computer

If Windows does what it should (no guarantee on this!), it will 'find' a 'new device' and install the driver for it.

Sound driver

SIGMATEL STAC 9750 AC97, v.5.10.0.3943, A14

On the bottom of the laptop there is a service tag number you need to go to www.dell.com and put that in or use the model number. The service tag and model number will get you more info about which sound driver to use. The one listed is the one they normally use in D600.
