Question about Dimplex Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Despite waiting the 2-3hours suggested by your tech person the unit is still blowing air at 33deg C

Just purchased today ; Model gdc14rcwa. We have followed all the instructions and despite the ambient temperature being 31dec C and the outside temperature being 37deg c - the unit will still not cool down the room. Room size is no more than 12sqm. Must say wasn't impressed with operator who said that I 'was expecting too much out of the unit'. I replied that after half an hour it should have cooled to more than one degree less than the ambient temperature. not impressed as i've been in hospital adn this was supposed to make me more comfortable when i got home. email address is:

Check that it is not on heating mode
many ac units are for heating or cooling and if you have not understood the symbols correctly it could be on the heat cycle
the room is rather large so the unit should be at least 20,000 btu or 3kw unit so check the unit size
check that all doors, windows are closed for the room and if there are windows facing the sun , you will need heavy blinds or window tinting
optimal temp setting is 25 C
next check that there is gas in the unit
if you still cannot get it to cool down , call for a warranty check from your local authorized service agent

Only blowing cold air

hi Justin, is the switch for it the air/vacuum type ? if so make sure it is operating correctly and that the hose is not pinched etc:
O.k. then i would suggest that the TX valve is faulty and needs replacing. to know for sure would require a technician to hook up a set of aircon gauges to the system and check the pressures.

Hi Jenny:
I just checked back to see what your original question was.
I personally am not skilled in that topic and it would appear that since there were no answers suggested, no one who had that knowledge encountered your question.
Please remember that we are all volunteers and offer help where we think we can.
May I suggest that since you just purchased your product, you direct your question to the retailer that you purchased it from. As a consumer, I'm supposed to have some understanding of what I am purchasing, and I would expect the vendor to have much better knowledge of what they are providing.
Hope it works out for you.

Compressor not working

The useful life of many AC compressors is about ten years. If the fan blows but the compressor will not kick in, the compressor may have seized or locked up. If you need to have refrigerant added, a certified AC tech lisenced to recover old refrigerant and install new will be needed. Most refrigerants of this type cannot even be purchased legally by a non-lisenced repair person. Going by the age of the unit, you should get an cost estimate on repairs and weigh that against the estimated cost of replacing the unit with a newer and more efficient model. Good Luck

My air conditioner never cools the home despite running it the whole day. it also have a close and open ferment, l try both side and it is still same thing

I would first check the air temp coming off the a\c unit and make sure it is at least 15 degrees celcius less than the room temp. If this is the case then the unit is probably undersized. Try closing all windows and doors that the unit is in. If the air coming off isn't much cooler than the room temp, the unit probably has a fault. I would suggest you call a qualified person to take a look, otherwise post another comment and I'll run you through some areas to fault find :)

Need a review on the Gestetner SDm735sp

I worked on this model for a couple years and honestly, it was hit and miss. I would visit some that were in immaculate condition despite having +100K clicks on the counter, then I would visit just as many that would have 20-30K that would be filthy from toner blowing and would jam frequently. As I recall, there was one exceptionally large design flaw in these that, when paper would jam, a tech would have to dismantle the paper feed side of the unit to be able to properly clear paper bits from around a sensor.
So...IF you are wanting to purchase this unit, I would suggest you do so on a trial basis so you can see which way the copier is going to fall. It really does seem like a 50/50 shot from my experiences. Oh and my experiences are from when the machine was first released. They may have made some retrofits or mods since's been a little while since I've worked for Gestetner so I can't help out on any possible recent developments.

Wont start

It may have overheated or just the oposit, it could have froze. Eitherway there are sensors that will shut off the unit if these conditions exsist. I suggest waiting a while and trying again. Unplug the unit while you wait.

If this does not work your problem is probably more complicated. I would then start by checking any onboard fuses. If you are not knowledgeable about electricity or handy with appliances I suggest hiring a technician.
