Question about Refrigerators
I have a Kenmore Freezer model #253.23082101. And the high temp alarm keeps going off every 8 to 12 hours for 4 weeks now. I have replaced battery with 5 different 9volt batteries and it does not have a on off switch for alarm. How do I fix this. Tired of waking up at 2 am to shut alarm off. Food is frozen and ice cream is like a brick. Temp gauge i put in freezer reads 0 degrees any where in freezer.

Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

Remove the food from the lower shelves , so the inside rear lower freezer panel can be removed ( only 2 or 4 screws ) .
The # 4 thermistor or # 5 thermistor is bad . # 4 tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted and when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp and when to cycle off / on , due to temp setting .
