My newly laid porcelain floor tiles black matt slate effect look dirty after cleaning with water and a cloth. still looks like they have grout residue stuck to them. How can i clean them

Grout residue is removed with an acid residue remover. The installer should have done that--call him back. If epoxy grout was used (not likely) it will be a real problem to remove.

Hoover spinscrub

I would be careful in mixing solutions with different machines. The steamer carpet cleaner applies the cleaning solution differently than the spin scrub. If anything, I would delude the solution before using it in the shampooer. The steamer automatically deludes the solution, the scrubber directly applies a thick coat.

No siphon action taken

Clean and check the vacuum motor for accumulated jam objects, dirt and dust. Use a small paint brush and if necessary apply some oil or grease in mechanical part. Be sure that the filter bag is clean also.Regularly clean it and you'll assure the vacuum will performed well.
Thanks for asking.

Hi, the motor was making a strange 'whirling' sound, (coming from the motor not bag). the vaccum will not even start now.

You should open the motor and clean it with a small paint brush. Clean also the filter bag. Dust will cause hindrance to the motor vacuuming power. Apply oil or grease to moving parts, not too much just enough to lubricate the mechanical parts and that whirling sound will minimize.
Good luck.

When I step on the lever to place the vacuum in cleaning position, the head will not stay on the floor. Is there a spring or something to apply pressure of the head to the floor? Can I fix this?

The weight of the brush in the front should keep it on the floor. The hinge may be full of dirt and needs to be cleaned out to ensure freedom of movement.

Steam cleaning an oil spot on driveway

Hello gktweets,

Cleaning oil stains off of your driveway will require the right "products". However, if the oil stains are a heavy buildup then you will definately need to steamclean them off first.

What you will need to do is apply a sodium hydroxide based degreasing product (basically most types of degreasers) to the oil stains and let the product sit on the stains for a few days allowing for the degreaser to completely dry.

Then you will want to use a "hot" water pressure washer to steamclean the oil stains off. If you do not have a "hot" pressure washer then a cold water unit will work too just not as effectively.

If you do not have access to a pressure washer at all you should re-coat the oil stains with your degreasing product then scrub with a broom and rinse with a garden hose simultaneously.

After your driveway is completey dry and the oil stains are still minimally present you can apply a dry product known as Bio-Dry. They have videos posted up on you tube as how to purchase and apply the product.

This product will go to work on the leftover stain and will work "over-time" as far as lifting the stain out of your driveway.

You can see before and after pictures here at this site: http://www.DrivewaySteamCleaning.com

Feel free to leave any comments on the site as well, they are much appreciated.

Hope this information helps you.

Bissell 2X Proheat 9200 - uses lots of cleaner.

May be that the cap and valves on the bottom of the tank is not shutting like it should and letting too much to come out. You may have to replace them.
