The CMOS battery will be beneath the keyboard and is usually a button cell, (2032 or 2025 size) 3 volts. Just north of the touch pad possition.

How do you remove the hard drive from an acer travelmate 514txv

Its seems that noone has answered your question! I have just joined, and will see what I can do to help!

Here is what you do:
- Open up the notebook normally so you can see the screen and keyboard.
- Remove the long bar that lies between the ALT Key and the Left Arrow Key.
- Lift up the small bar that lies behind the F3 - F5 keys (a small screwdriver helps!)
- Lift up the long bar that lies between the F6 - PrtSc/SysRq Key
- Remover the keyboard, than unscrew the metal plate underneath
- Unscrew the harddrive

Good luck!

Acer travelmate 342t CMOS Battery bad, How do I

it is inside,on the motherboard,it is a watch type battery or a vinyl coated battery pack that plugs in the board,if it is the watch battery type,be carefull removing it.the holder can break off the motherboard very easy, might be able to get to it by removing the plastic piece above the keyboard that surrounds the power button, otherwise dissassembly will be necessary

Power jack is pushed in

i dont think so,fold the screen all the way down, usually the part that goes over the hinges can be popped up from behind when the screen is laid all the way open,im not sure on this model, either they are two hinge cap peices,or the trim around the power button above the keyboard and the hinge caps are all one peice, if it got dropped and landed on the a/c adapter plug ,or someone tried to force the plug in ,most likely you are going to have damage on the motherboard,if your lucky all you will have to do is retouch the solder joints for the plug with a soldering iron, look for cracks on the board, especially if the power jack is on the corner of the board,

I can't find the cmos battery in my Acer TravelMate 512DX

you have got an older model, try this:

follow the instructions:

you will need:
a slim x-screw-driver
a sharp knife with a slim blade and
a cup or else for the screws, don't loose them!
a new c-mos bios battery model: CR-1220 (exchange it while your in there!)

you find c-mos battery and hdd under the keyboard!

- turn off the power, remove accu and charger cable, for static electricity is friendly fire
to your laptop now !

- open your screen to max. fold (angle of 180 degrees)

- look for removable plastic part near to left holder of screen
- carefully remove it
- also remove plastic panel right to it in the section between display holders
metal should be visible now
- carefully! remove keyboard, starting at the left side, continuing topside
as you won't be able to fully remove it, simply turn it over
- unscrew any screws holding the metal plate, remove it
- now you see: left the CPU plus cooler, top right middle the hdd still in an adapter attached
to the mainboard, at it's lower right the C-MOS battery (g
- turn loos these screws
- carefully remove the frame/adaptor holding the hdd
- unscrew again the adaptor
- seperate hd fram adaptor

... and gotcha!

be careful to get a proper notebook hd (samsung or such)
exchange CMOS-battery by chance
reattach new hd to frame, again carefully!

to reassamble: rewind the procedures
put everything back in place

replug, pray and turn on the lappie.

wish you luck.....

Replace Keyboard for Acer Laptop 2414WLCi

Hey,
Here it is step by step. (Depending on make and model, disassembly may vary slightly.)
1) Remove the battery.
2) Remove ALL of the screws from the bottom of the laptop.
3) Remove any screws on the back of the laptop.
4) Fold the screen back as far as possible then remove the small plastic caps on the hinges.
5) Remove the piece above the keyboard, with the power button on it.
6) Lightly lift up the keyboard and underneath it you will find a ribbon cable attached to the motherboard, detach the keyboard and replace it with the new one.
7) Do exactly the opposite of what you just did to reassemble.

:) Hope I helped!
