Question about Dryers
Just wanted to know how to replace the broken belt everything else on dryer works just need to know how to go about replacing the belt thanks. Whirlpool Model LEP684 AW0 dryer turns on, hear motor humming and heats up .. was told it could be the belt off or broken...also was told that it was difficult to check this out..was told had to remove the drum... not sure if i'm being advised correctly or ripped off
If it comes on and runs and has heat but the drum does not turn the belt is broken. To replace the belt unplug the dryer, remove the lint filter, remove the 2 philip head screws, with a stiff putty knife pry up in the top of the cabnet on the right and left to litf the top, disconect the door swithch remove the screw from each side and lift the front off romove the old belt the reinstall put new belt around the drum groove side toward the drum. put the idler pully in the slot closest to the motor be sure the tab is under the base and the 2 catches stit in the slot. now pull the belt through the idler pully and around the motor shaft. the reinsatll the front secure with the screws reconect the door switch, close the top, put the 2 screws back in where the lint filter goes then put in lint filter, plug in dryer and test.
