Remove battery. Maybe faulty? Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same specs. Reseat the Memory Mods. has the AC jack been damaged by pulling on the cord? Try plug in and at the laptop's AC jack "wiggle" the AC jack plug. Any change?

SOURCE: wont turn on

Hi,

you have one of 3 things wrong here.

1:) the battery is dead, and needs to be replaced ( suggest e-bay china seller for cheapest )
2:) the AC adaptor or dc socket on the motherboard is Faulty.
3:) motherboard fault, regarding charging circuit board.

Go for the most cost effective option First. New Battery. Then AC Adaptor. Finally would be motherboard replacement.

Hi

You may need a new battery. I would download software to check the battery.

Does the computer start with the AC plugged in and the battery removed?

What type of Laptop Do You Have?

SOURCE: blinking AC light with/without battery, computer shuts down

I want to try a very simple thing, cause it happened to me, while I am working on my computer , it shut down unexpectedly... cause the processor is working with its full performance and no enough cooling around the laptop. so while I move to other place and also I raise the laptop a little bit from the back to let the fans (bottom of the laptop) works perfectly .
try to open it again and do so.... may be it is a so simple thing that was far from your mind like I was before... good luck

The blinking power cord icon indicates that the battery is not charging, or is defective enough that it is overloading the charger. The laptop will not turn on unless it "thinks" the battery is charged enough to operate the computer. Even though you have the AC power connected and your adapter may be OK, it is still possible that:

  1. The power jack in the rear of the computer may be broken or otherwise defective, as well as the electrical connections to it.
  2. The wires and/or circuitry which connects from the power jack to the battery contacts may be defective.
  3. The battery itself may be defective.
  4. Can you operate the computer with only the battery?
  5. DON'T try to operate the computer with the battery removed, as this can lead to a situation where the internal power supplies receive too high an input voltage. This varies from model to model, but it is generally something to avoid, since there is not much detailed information available showing the circuits in detail, we cannot make a good "guess" as to whether this may be a problem. Best to be on the safe side.
  6. If you have checked the above items and have not learned anything new, AND, you have removed the battery and adapter, turned the computer off (not in that order, of course!), and let it sit overnight, and it still exhibits the same problem, that means you have "something wrong" inside the case which will require "major surgery". That is best done by a technician familiar with Toshiba laptops, and preferably, familiar with this particular model. He should also have access to proprietary Toshiba repair documentation and test procedures. I've learned from experience that it usually does more harm than good to "poke around" inside any computer if you don't know precisely what to look for, what to do, and how to repair problems you find. Unlike simpler electrical or mechanical devices of the past, you can't learn very much be observation and tinkering inside a computer! Too much is hidden from view, or depends on special parts which can't be fixed even if you determine they are defective; they must be replaced.
  7. This is about all you can do from outside the case. If you notice any other symptoms, no matter how isolated or trivial they may seem, please let me know and I will see if there is anything else I can recommend. Unlike desktops, laptops are not made to be easily repaired by replacing circuit boards, add-in accessories, etc. They are pretty much self-contained. Once you determine that the problem is inside the case, first you decide if the laptop is still worth enough to warrant the hundred-dollar-plus cost the repair is likely to require, or if it would be better to replace it with a new model, or look for a used one on eBay or some other place. This is not a conspiracy by Toshiba; it is just what is necessary to get everything into the small package and keep the price within reason.
Good luck!

You may have a bad battery. Many times laptops will not work if the battery is faulty. The first step would be to replace the battery with a new one.

Second Step: If the battery is working, then you may have a faulty AC power supply. It may be enough power being brought to power up the LCD light, but not the computer.

Third Step: Yoru mother board circuitry could be bad in the sense that some circuits are broken or the power conduit is not supplying the power to the rest of the circuits on the board.

If you are not a professional and able to troubleshoot in this manner after testing the batter and AC power supply, then I would suggest taking the laptop to a store for them to test the circuitry flow of the mother board.

Orange light flashing, no chargine

A replacement battery must be the EXACT same power spec as the original in DC volts and Milliamps, or you could damage the Mobo components. Some aftermarket batteries do not work well. The connections may be different.

Laptop won't switch on although blue power light on is showing power is getting to the machine

Check the power adaptor led is not flashing. Flashing Adaptor LED indicates fault with laptop charging circuit / powerboard

If it will not boot on battery, and you know the adaptor to be good, the issue lies with the motherboard.
Sometimes, removing the battery, and unplugging, pressing the power button and holding it for 30 secs, replacing the adaptor only will allow it to boot up, but this will only work if the motherboard is not damaged r the CPU fan has not failed.

Dell 9400 wont show AC power icon

If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the about10.jpg light operates as follows:
  • Solid green: The battery is charging.

  • Flashing green: The battery is almost fully charged.

If the computer is running on a battery, the about41.jpg light operates as follows:
  • Off: The battery is adequately charged (or the computer is turned off).

  • Flashing orange: The battery charge is low.

  • Solid orange: The battery charge is critically low.
Looks like the AC adaptor is faulty.

Compaq armada 7400 does not turn on

Please turn off the Computer and disconnect the AC Adaptor then remove the Battery. Next, try cleaning the metal contacts on the Battery and reseating the RAM modules. Then, connect only AC Adaptor to the Computer and try to turn it ON without the Battery. If the Computer doesn't turn ON then disconnect the AC Adaptor and insert the Battery then try turning ON the Computer. If the issue persists even after performing all the above steps then service will be required.

Laptop won't turn on

The blinking orange battery light generally indicates that the battery isn't working properly, usually going out and not charging properly. In this case, since the adapter will not power the machine without the battery, and it should, I'm going to say that the adapter is going out and not getting the proper amount of power to the system. Try replacing the adapter. Be sure to replace it with a Dell replacement, the Targus brand universal adapters do not work well with Dell machines, and in most cases won't work at all.
