Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Where do I plug in power for speakers?

I recently moved my computer. Before I moved it, the speakers were working fine. After I moved, I have a power cord that I'm sure goes to the speakers but can't figure out where to plug it in. I feel rather silly for not figuring this out myself because this is not the first time I've had to move this computer. The speakers are the old style that could be attached to the side of the older monitors. The only name on them is Polk Audio (no model number)
so I don't even remember which computer they came with.

No, there is no hole on the back that the power cord would go into. I pulled the cover off the front and underneath it says CE N279. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

ok i'm looking at a set the only thing you have to plug in are the 2 wires going to the speakers and then into the computer there is no power cord
there should be a hole on each one and on the computer tower there is a place to plug them in and it normaly shows the speakers what kind of computer is it?

Everything is plugged in turned on but no sound. I recently moved my computer system to a new location and have not been able to get the speakers to work help

I assume this is a powered unit, so first off make sure the power cord is plugged into the wall and the speakers. then make sure you are plugged into the correct jack on the PC. It is usually green in color. Finally, make sure the volume on both the speakers and the PC are turned up. Report back wit hresults.

I have just moved my speakers around in my room and they were working perfectly before. Now only one speaker is playing and when i swap the inputs the other speaker will work fine but they other one wont....

check the mass terminated cable connecting the controller to the base speaker. This connection becomes flacky generally requiring a good contact cleaner solution being needed to be applied to restore the connections.
Go to radio shack and ask for a plastics safe contact cleaner then after disconnecting the mass terminated cable spray it liberly. Then reinsert while still wet then work in and out a few times. You can do this for all the cables connecting to the pc as well. This should restore your dead channel....hop it works :-)

Speaker buzzing at random

It sounds like the socket on your computer is becoming worn or has a loose solder joint.

If you feel comfortable with a fine tipped soldering iron and stripping your computer down I would take a look there first.

Also check the power supply for the speakers to make sure it is not getting too hot.

your speaker connections are plugged in incorrectly or the speakers are not plugged in and powered on.
check the back of the computer where your speakers are plugged in and make sure you speakers are plugged into the right colors

No sound

be sure they are plugged into the right jack on back of sound card. Also, plug speakers into a second different PC with good working sound. This will verify that the spaekers are still ok. If speakers are ok, then check in control panel under Sounds, see if a sound cscheme is selected. If No Scheme selected, select one, then respond NO if prompted to keep scheme.

Only getting half the volume

The first things I would check would be the volume control within your operating system. If I assume you have Windows XP, you would go to Start-->All Program-->Accessories-->Entertainment and click "Volume Control". Make sure all of the sliders are at least 1/2 way up. You might also want to check to make sure the cable from the speakers to the computer is plugged into the proper jack (usually the green one), as sometimes computers have jacks for rear speakers, which might make them sound quieter.
