Isight lag After mountain lion installation the isight camera of my iMac 2007 has lag in showing movements

I would add some more details. Before the installation of mountain lion I had the MacOSX Snow leopard and everything was ok. Using applications like photobooth, quicktime or skype the image displayed was fluid without lag, both before the registration and in recording mode. As soon as I decided to move to mountain lion, in order to avoid any problem, I bought the SO and created an installation DVD. I formatted the HD and installed the SO from DVD. This was a clean installation so I didn't expect any problem. Unfortunately i was wrong and now i have this annoying problem. In order to better describe the behaviour, imagine that you are in front of your isight builtin webcamera that is filming you (no recording mode). You move your arm and see on screen your arm arriving in the final position a little bit late respect your real movement. This problem cause a video and audio out of sync because the audio is recorded perfectly but video has delay

SOURCE: web camera iSight camera winxp driver

NO DRIVERS are require with this kind of cameras (just wait a little if you are using parallels or virtualbox for the icon to show up in desktop)

This webcams are IEEE1394 or firewire cameras (12v not 5v)

What you need to do its as simple as connect the camera and wait for the icon to show up. Its true it will look overexposed.
But the reason why its because this kind of cameras are call IIDC, this cameras allow to stream video trough your computer using your firewire. NO DRIVER IS NEEDED, but you can download an application to manage the the amount of light and color of the camera.

The application its call AMCAP http://www.globalmedia.com/drivers/amcap/amcap.zip
(its great. FREE and the size its about 30kb)

You will only need the amcap.exe to manage the color, etc. Once you have selected your preferences your are done. next time you won't need to repeat the steps because its already saved.

Good luck,

I can not update my mac to 10.9

Hard to say without knowing exactly what Mac you have and what specs, but most likely reason would be your system doesn't meet the requirements (From Apple support site) - To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
  • iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
  • MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
  • MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)
Your Mac also needs:
  • OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
  • 2 GB or more of memory
  • 8 GB or more of available space

I am running OS X 10.4.11 and would like to upgrade my operating system?

Please provide more information.
To what would you like to upgrade it?

Since OSX Mavericks was just announced, I'm going to assume that's what you're wanting to upgrade to.

Not all Macs can run Mavericks.

Mavericks Capable Macs

Mavericks, like its predecessor Mountain Lion, requires one of the following Macs with at least 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of available hard drive space:
  • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)

If your Mac isn't one of the ones listed above, you won't be able to upgrade.

If you have an iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, or Mac mini model that was originally released in Early/Mid 2006, the latest version of Mac OS X your system supports is Snow Leopard.

What are the requirements to download Apple Mountain Lion OSX?

You must have the following computer to download Mountain Lion:

iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)

Once that is done, you must be updated to the most recent version of either Snow Leopard or Lion. If you don't have either of these operating systems (which is highly unlikely considering the other computers should have them, but I digress) then you will need to get them before Mountain Lion.

After that, go to the Apple Store and download Mountain Lion!

My G5 tower is no longer recognising my external iSight camera. The only thing that happened was that I switched the G5 off and on again, it was working fine previously. Can you help? Many thanks

Best thing you can do is to determine whether its the port or the camera.
If you go to the Apple in the upper-left corner, and go to "About this Mac", then click "More information", it will start System Profiler. On the left side, under "Hardware", click on "Firewire" and see if your iSight shows up. If you have another FireWire device, plug it in, and see if it shows up there as well. The solution could just be a dead iSight (hopefully!). The worst case scenario is a dead FireWire bus...
If you have a dead iSight, I'd guess that ebay would be your best resource at this point. If its a dead bus, I'm afraid it won't be terribly cost effective to fix it :-/

I'm trying to find a web cam w/mic that is compatible for an imac m5521

Hi Krystine. If your imac has firewire ports then look on ebay for an Apple iSight Camera. If you haven't got Firewire - and even if you have. it's wqorth looking here http://agent.liquiddigital.com.au/

This is a USB version of the Apple iSight in all but name.
I've seen it working and can vouch for its quality.

Isight intermittent. G5 Imac 17" The Isight cam I have now dubbed 10sec cam turns off and has to be restarted.

I understand from your problem statement that the internal iSight camera in your G5 iMac turns itself off around 10 seconds after you turn it on.
Create a new temporary user in System Preferences / Accounts. Log out and then log in as this user. Enable the camera. Does it still turn off in 10 seconds? If not, something running in your other user account (a startup program or system preference) is interfering with the operation of your camera.
If you have a spare external drive, install a fresh version of the Mac OS on that drive, then boot from that drive. Does the camera still turn off in 10 seconds? If not, you should run an OS installation with "archive and install" on your internal drive. If it does, you have a hardware problem that requires a Mac tech. If this is indeed a G5 iMac, the repair will likely not be cost-effective.

Web camera iSight camera winxp driver

I just got my iSight working with Windows XP AND fixed the image quality problem many are having.

To install the iSight, just plug it in, and cancel out of the "New Hardware Wizard." The camera will show up in My Computer, but will be VERY overexposed.

Next, download some program that will allow you to fiddle with the incoming video properties. I googled and found:

http://www.1394imaging.com/products/software/iccapture/
But I'm sure there's more out there. Use this program to turn down the brightness, and voila, your iSight will remember the new settings and you get great video even with AIM. Now if only the microphone worked...
