OKI C3400 printer keeps saying

My printer keeps saying that the toner cartridge lock lever is improper, drum missing or toner sensor error.

this is a new printer. I have only had it for a year and have barely used it. Every time I take the toner cartridge out to relock it, I still get the same error. Now the error is on two of the color cartridges instead of just one. How do I fix this?

The error message first tells me that the 'magenta' cartridge needs to be aligned. I adjust that one, then the error message tells me the 'cyana' and 'yellow' cartridges need to be aligned, so I adjust those (sometimes several times). Then the message comes up that there is a 'sensor error'. I have turned it off, unpluggd it and restarted it several times but nothing seems to work. Suggestions?

My black toner had been low, so I took it out to shake it because I knew that there was a lot left in it.. Some did spill out inside the printer. After I replaced it, that's when I started getting the 543 error and the gear grinding sound started. In my troubleshooting process I tried running it with only the drum and no toner at all. I got the same noise and error message.

I took out the drum completely and the noise stopped. So it did have something to do with the gears. After doing a good cleaning up, I am going to replace the drum next and see it that helps.

I found this link: http://www.okic5100n.co.uk/index.asp?men... and tried it but it didn't work for my situation. Maybe it will help someone else.

You are getting all three error messages? What happens if you re;pcl the cartridge and turn the printer off, wait a minute or so, and turn it back on? Let me know if the message still comes up.

I purchased new toner cartridges for my C3400. the new yellow cartridge wont lock in to place. I can insert the cartridge into the drum but can't move the lock.

Okay, I had the same problem with my C3300. I phoned the people i purchased from and this is what fixed it for me:

looking directly at the printer:
-open printer
-remove drum in question (the drum is what houses the toner cartridge) in my printer it is black.
-look on the right side of the drum & there is a little (approx 5mm x 5mm) hole that has a little panel that opens- push this up to open it.

-replace drum close the top and try printing.

I had to do this 2 times before it worked, but it worked.

The plastic shutter in the ID is fully or partially covering the toner sensor window.

Move the cover upward to allow for the sensor to become fully exposed prior to reinstalling the drum.

540 : y toner sensor error

Hi moneybaggz52:
Here is your problem.
Symptom:
When setting up a brand new C5100n or C5300n out of box, a toner sensor error is encountered.

The printer can display any one of the following errors:

543K: TONER SENSOR ERROR

This generally can be caused by two things.

1. The toner cartridge lock lever is not in the correct position.

2. The Transfer Belt lock levers are not in the correct position.
Resolution:

Check the appropriate toner cartridge lock lever (Shown below) and make sure that it is in the correct position.

Toner Error

Check to make sure that the sensors are clean and play around with the lock arms. Reset the machine and also download the utility from the oki service website to get exact error message. http://www.okic3400.co.uk/library/downloads/utilities/c3300c3400smv1115.exe

I have an Oki C3400 that wont print

Could very well be the sensor window. I suggest looking at the side of the drum on the right side and pushing a q tip into the opening. heres an older model thats sort of similar instructions. http://www.c3400.co.uk/index.asp?menumode=0&content=sensorerror
Also you can check the exact error code here. http://www.okic3400.co.uk/library/downloads/utilities/c3300c3400smv1115.exe

New toners and drums, but flashing amber error light - won't print now

Have you replaced the printer drums? The status monitor will tell you what percent they are at (similar to the toner cartridge status). This fixed my problem before.

Oki 3300

When installing the C3300 printer, or when replacing the toner cartridge, be sure to fully insert the toner cartridge into the image drum, and make sure the blue lever is pushed ALL THE WAY toward the back of the printer (fully locked position). If it is not fully closed (locked), a "toner sensor" or "toner empty" message may result.
