You do need an amp.and a mixer. You mixer should have microphone
jacks, and a pream or switch to allow you to use lowZ, High Z or
amplified microphones.
Was it working at first, and it just stopped? Try unhooking everything and just isolate the one cdj and plug it in see if it will eject. If its Brand New and this just started happening my sugguestion is to take it back to the store. you get what you pay for and numarks whole dj in a box line is the bottom line stuff.
Usual cause is a little rubber belt either deteriorated or is slipping that drives the carriage to do the eject. Open unit and recover the CD and the drive belt will be obvious...
Or even a cheap replacement laptop power supply as these usually start at 1000 mA which will give you current to spare and have a longer lifetime. most of these cover from 15V to 24V and are either auto switching or manual select for the voltage. Plus you can pick these up from most electronic / big box / supermarket shelves
