HOOVER VHV781C-80 burning smell then stopped working

Bummer..possibly to small of belt, causing the motor to work harder then normal. Or motor overheated due to yucky hair, string..ect.. Wrapped around belt..causing stress on the belt, which drives and turns w motor. If you smell burning..( and this is my experience) it usually means broken fried belt..dirty or binding junk..which can fry both the belt and sometimes burn out the motor. So keep all working prts clean

How do i replace the drive motor on Kenmore 80 series dryer model 11076862500

The motor is on a spring loaded pivot. DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICITY.
Remove the spring from the motor. MAKE A DRAWING OF THE BELT PATH. Simply open the wiring port and remove the wires. Make sure you connect the wires to the same marked terminals on the new motor. Also, make sure the new motor is set up for the correct voltage.

I had a chipmunk climb into my vent and into the dryer. It was ran without knowing the critter was inside, now the dryer over heats. The top right side and the line where the wires run get so very hot. ...

Something is still blocking the air flow to the outside, or the motor is burned out. Pull your lint filter out and turn the dryer on. You should be able to hear and feel air rushing through the lint filter hole. If no air is coming out the blower motor is porbably burned out. If something actually stops the blower wheel from turning it will quickly burn the motor out. Remove the back panel to access the fan motor. Be sure to unplug the dryer before removing any panels. If air is flowing at the lint filter, your vent line is stopped up.

No heat when drying

Could be a few different causes. One is to turn off your breaker and turn it back on. One side could have tripped and needs reset. It should be a double 30 amp. Could be a loose wire in the receptacle (get electrician for that). Could be one of the wires on the pig tail has burned off or come loose. Could be a burned out heater element. Could be a burned out thermostat. Could be timer points are burned out. Could also be the motor switch. Or even a combination of any of the above. Some Whirlpool dryers have a one-time thermal fuse that burns out. But remember, the *first* thing you to is to UNPLUG it before checking anything (except the breaker in your panel)

Sounds like the motor shorted. Pull it apart and look for burnt wires and/or a burnt motor. The motor itself will smell burnt if it is.

Dryer would not turn on. It smelled like something was burning!

Not only do you have to replace that wire, but you have to determine what it fed. The motor is a likely suspect to overload a wire. Check it for lint, worn out bearings, junk at the fan, and dryer roller bearings that might need heat resistant grease. Also check the front glides for wear.

Switch does not turn on.

I believe this to be the motor is burned out or hopefully a wire is loose or burned in two. Make sure the breakers are reset and the connections are tight in the back.
