I have a 16 GB verbatim brand jump drive that I cannot open up. I have tried other usb ports on different computers. Is it common for jump drives to go bad? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

If not "safely removed" USB drives can go bad. If your system recognizes the drive when plugged in you can try doing a scan disk on it and check for any errors that may be preventing you from accessing the file system.

Plug in the USB drive, check my computer and see if the drive is there, if it is, right click the drive, click properties, and tools and select the option to scan the disk.

If you do not see the drive in My Computer, click start, Run, type DISKMGMT.MSC and click OK. Check and see if your drive is being recognized in Disk Management.

If you still do not see it in Disk Management, they you may just have a faulty jump drive, at which point you should contact Verbatim to see if they have any other recommendations or if it is still under warranty.

I purchase a storage unit contients thru auction and it contained a Dell 1735 laptop however, it has a BIOS password. Does anyone know how to disable ?

How to remove the lost MASTER password.

It can be done but to tell all how to do it will remove the security of a password as it is confidential information supplied under agreement with the manufacturer and his agent.
Take it to your dealer, he can do it without any problem.

Or try this link:

If you have lost windows password, the best thing for you is creating a password reset disk.Actually, when you add a password to your pc,the first thing you should do is creating a disk in case you lost the password. But how to make a password reset disk after you have lost the password ? Follow these
You need to prepare:
1:A blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive
2.A computer which can link to internet
3.A program called Windows Password Key
Then let's begin
Step 1.Login to a PC which can link to internet,Download and install the program from in that PC
Step 2.Run the program and burn to CD/DVD OR USB flash drive
Step 3.Turn to your locked PC,insert the newly create CD or USB to your drive.Reboot the Computer and then follow the instructions,it is very easy to use.

Sandisk 16 GB USB Drive wont accept large files says disk is full

What is the USB drive formatted as? Look in My Computer then right click the USB drive, select Properties. See what it says under "File System". My guess is the drive is formatted as FAT32. Now FAT32 has a size limitation of 4GB for a single file, which would explain the error. To get over this you need to reformat the USB drive as NTFS. Then it will accept the 6.95GB file. You can format the drive by right clicking it again and selecting "Format" ... choose NTFS from the drop down menu. Be aware that any data already on the drive will be wiped by the format so be sure to back it up before formatting.

I have a new pc and I need to know how to retrieve my files and info from my old pcsince my cd rom had a cd to break off in there and I cannot remove it.

Try a flash drive instead of the CD ROM drive. They hold lots of info these days, and are much smaller and easier to use. A CD only holds around 800 MB, whereas the little USB flash drives are up into the gigahertz range. I just got one that holds 4 GB for less than $20.

Verbatim 250GB External Hard Disk not recognized by PC

Almost always, when a USB drive doesn't assign a drive letter in MY Computer the issue is a Mapped network drive using the drive letter the USB drive is attempting to use.

With the drive connected, open DISK MANAGEMENT find the USB Drive, right click it and assign it an available drive letter.

Hard drive wiped :(

No. Not if the partition table was re-written on the 160GB and any data was written to it. If there is info that MUST be retrieved, there are pay services that can bit-retrieve and reconstruct some files. There is no guarantee.

Freecom 250 Gb Hard Drive

Hi des,
you need to install windows XP, on a different hard-drive.
even if it,s only 10 gig plus.
You can then access the drive.
Your problem is here, is that you,ve upgraded from XP to Vista, theres a possibility, that you may have lost or even formatted your freecom hard-drive.
No-Support-Device detected, is saying that your USB devices are not functioning correctly.
Check in the bios that the USB devices are enabled, to operate your hard-drive. ( this is assuming it,s a USB drive )

Hope this helps you out.

Mike @ compurepair.
