SOURCE: replace drum, still says replace the drum and now it won't print.

Did you reset the drum counter?
When you replace the drum unit with a new one, you need to reset the drum unit counter by completing the following steps:

  1. Turn the the machine’s power switch back on.
  2. Press Menu => Machine Info. => Reset Menu.
  3. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose Drum.
  4. Press OK.
  5. Press 1 to reset the drum unit counter.
  6. Press Stop/Exit.
I hope this helps.

(if you did the reset, you may need to talk to Brother Support. I'm assuming you used a Brother drum and only handled it by the handles.)

SOURCE: Replace Drum Soon Message

Read your manual. There is a counter that goes off, that can be reset when you change the drum.

With power on and front cover open press set, then select reset drum

Drum end soon brother mfc 7320 printer usb002

My Brother MFC 7420 said drum end soon, so I ordered a new drum. Then I waited for something to go wrong before I replaced it. Basically I was looking for a deterioration in print quality. I waited and waited. I think it was over 3 years. I replaced the toner a few times. While the print quality never really went done, the frequency of other problems finally shot up. When I replaced the drum the problems went away. My advice -- ignore the warning unless you have other problems.

Faint print on Brother HL-2040

Try cleaning the drum cylinder with alcohol and a cotton ball. Then swipe the corona wire cleaner back and forward making sure to return it to the correct place. Try a print. If it is improved - replace the drum at earliest convenience. If not improved - could be dirty laser lenses or problem with the fuser.

Poor quality print

Try cleaning the LED heads. These are located in the lid and are facing you when you have raised the lid. A quick wipe with a dry cloth or tissue should help. If in doubt, check the user manual.

Bad photo quality after changing drum

your laser printer
1) print color quality is now distorted that means print skew (technician called)
2) print tint means the print color not enough density,
3) print mottle means print dirty
you may try
1) print distorted--- find out the skew adjustment from your printer manu, it is adjust the image before transfer to the drum.
2) print skew could be happened when the drum replace install not very accurate, so install it more carefully.
3) print tint---you may increase print density from the manu, not fix,
4) print tint---the toner caridge near life cycle or using the less compatible toner. so you have change the quality toner or cartridge (if near life cycle) to improve quality photo print
5)print mottle---toner quality ? or cartridge near life cycle also cause print dirty paper,

Drum error

Sounds like it's time for a new drum but, here's the reset procedure that should make the drum light go off and allow printing.

Make sure the machine is turned on and the drum light is blinking. Press and hold the "GO" button for 4 seconds (approx.) until all four lights are lit. When all four are lit, release the "GO" button. Make sure the drum light is off now. The drum is now reset.

THIS WILL NOT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF PRINT as the drum will need to be replaced in order to do that but it will allow you to continue using the drum until it reaches and unacceptable quality.

Hope that helps you.

find out where are the streaks come from, from PC drum, or transfer belt, fusin unit or from toner cartridges. does the trasferbelt and PC drum look okey. finally if nothing is helping, try firmware upgrade and replace printer drivers, sometimes help.
