Question about Garmin StreetPilot c550 GPS Receiver
After a while one day it asked for a pin# now i cant get past where it asks for the pin#
A hard reset will not remove the embedded PIN code. This is a security feature on the Garmin GPS's. You either must have the PIN code, or take the unit back to the security location. Without a receipt from an authorized dealer, you are out of luck... Garmin will not reset it for you without a receipt.

Have you tried a hard reset? This is described in the manual. You have to remove the bezel to do this. It is like a restore function on a PC

You probably just need to find the reciept where you bought the C550. Sounds like Garmin is protecting its customers when they say $300. This is most unfortunate thing to happen to you. Is the Garmin $300 issue as I thought and related to you not having the registration code or Reciept?
