It usually takes longer if the customer "helps" by taking the tool apart first so with that in mind if you try it and cant get it the tech you take it too may charge you more than if you took it there first. Now if you're fairly good mechanically you might do just fine. It's a time consuming job though.

thx. wondering if it was worth it. sending it in will probably cost as much as replacing the saw, i am guessing. mechanically? i have had luck in the past, but i am a carpenter, not a repair specialist. guess forking out 2 bills after xmas becomes a necessary evil.

The DeWalt factory has a repair program that makes a lot of repairs cost effective. I don't know if you have a factory center in your area, but it still might be worth it with shipping also. Call 1-800-433-9258....1-800-4DeWalt. and they can tell you all about it. They may have info on it on also.

There's a good chance that a bearing froze up. It would need to be replaced which would require disassembling the saw motor. A DeWalt/B&D service center will go through the entire tool and replace whatever it needs for $25.99 It is part of their GRC repair program. Contact your local service center for details. You can find one near you by using this link and putting in your zip code.

I have a dewalt 28402 grinder. I have replaced the pinion but I don't know how to get the helical gear out of the case to replace it. Any thoughts? Thanks Chris

You can buy the pinion gear as a seperate part but not the ring gear. Dewalt only sells the ring gear as a part of the gear case assembly, PN 623586-00.

Gear slipping in dewalt dw056

Those gears are only held on the motor with their tight fit, if yours is slipping that easily the motor will have to be replaced. The new motor will have that gear on it.

Reciprocating saw stops reciprocating

your missing a tooth on a large round gear in the gearbox.

when the gear on the engine rotates into the position where the little engine gear spins because there is no tooth to come into contact with the engine runs but the gearbox doesnt spin, hence no reciprocation, but engine runs.

if you bump the blade it will start going again, but when you cut it will stop offasionally in mid cut. you can repair this but stop using it the engine gear will be destroyed otherwise

I have a dewalt dw303 that you can use for parts, I need a new trigger or something the motor is dead and I found a new saw. go to, rochester ny tools section and look for dewalt dw303 that is my listing. for ten bucks ill sell you all the gears you need. i think it is close to the same model, i am sure it is the same gearbox.

try opening your gearbox, im positive that is what is wrong.
