Okay; first off an SMPS is any number of power supplies used for electronics. So this is a very vague question. In a computer power supply to an IBM or PowerPC based motherboard (the later is now obsolete and no longer in use for most new computers) there is no one power supply "wire". Most video cards are powered via PCI port through the motherboard power supply connection.
Some very high power high end video cards and some SLI/Bridged cards require their own power source and this is usually a 12 volt rail much like the ones used for SATA power supply.
In a monitor, each make and model can be different depending on who supplied the power supply. The internal power cords can come in different colors. Though the standards are black white blue and green and red. Most displays don't use colored cords for connecting to the main board of the display. They use a 8 or 10 pin ribbon. Most of the colored wires are linking the main inducer to the LED back light.
If we're talking about the internal workings of an SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) there is no "display" wire. SMPS internal wiring is all about controlling and routing power to the different rails (that is the different power connectors). Never open an SMPS case, especially if it's plugged in. Switch-mode power supplies have capacitors that can provide a rather nasty charge, and several inducers that can hold a charge well after the power supply has been unplugged. Never service an SMPS on your own, always seek a professional when attempting to fix an SMPS. Though, for the most part, fixing a burnt out power supply is a waste of time, it'd be best just to buy a new one and recycle the dead one.
Quite possible that the fault is relative to the power supply of the TV. So it is important that the voltage is measured of the output in the SMPS - switch mode power supply.
If there is no output the SMPS is faulty , failure of driver or frequency oscillator.

If the set is totaly dead then the first place to start is with the SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply). However sometimes other parts will cause the Power Supply to short out as well. If and when the Power Supply is replaced and the set comes back to life and operated with a Menu then you are probably ok. Note: On your set when replacing the SMPS the tech Must adjust the SMPS voltages to the Panel Voltages. There is a sticker on the Panel that list the voltages the tech must adjust on the SMPS.
It is difficult (or impossible) to tell exactly what caused the transistors to go bad. Sometimes they just fail because they were a little weak, or other parts went bad first and caused the transistors to be damaged. Parts get weaker and values change over time and with use, and failures can happen. The UPS can't stop damage to the power supply if some part inside the supply goes bad, but it is still good to have one. New 450 to 500 watt power supplies can be purchased for $30 to $50 (or more).
I have to assume that your post is some question concerning the SMPS on the Akai TV and then further assume that you're dealing with a dead condition??? That given, you probably need to replace several caps on the SMPS that can be ordered as a kit. The kit supplies 19 caps in-all (4) 3300/35v, (8) 2200/25v, (6) 1000/10v and (1) 1000/16v the last seven 1000uf caps can all be 16v if you order the smaller style.
That is assuming you are experiencing a dead condition on your set. It is best if you can give a tech a little more to go on than "power suply" if you're actually wanting any real help.
