How to use seat belt with seat

I have an evenflo big kid deluxe booster car seat... you use the shoulder strap in the back seat... the thing I cant get is that the seat belt can move free (as it does when adults use one...) my son can climb out and if hit from behind would just throw him forward... do I pull the belt out all the way to lock it? If I do that will it not tighten every time he moves? HELP... hehe... thank you...

Re: how to use seat belt with seat

Here is the link to the product page for the seat; click on "demo" and you get a few videos showing how to install etc. Check this link for FAQs about the model; and this link for the full user manual; Basically what evenflo say is that if you can't teach the child not to climb out, you need a different type of booster with a traditional restraint. if thrown forward as described the belt should function as usual for an adult, assuming the belt is correctly positioned on the child. Contact evenflo on; if you have any doubts at all. They can also point you towards a qualified installer who can verify the safety or otherwise of your setup. Sorry if not great news, hope it helps keep your son safe :)

Can you use a lap belt only with this booster seat?

  • Yes you can. The belt goes between the front and rear sets of arms on the booster seat. It is always advised to use a shoulder strap with it but you need a clip to bring the direction of the top of the shoulder strap [seat belt] to avoid neck (throat) impact. If this is not possible at the moment then run the shoulder strap behind the child and the lap belt portion over their lap, between the two sets of arms, as they sit in the seat. Then get a seat belt locking clip soon. You can get them anywhere on the net and at your local department stores as well for $7 or so. Like this one here.

Hi, how do i attach the belt clip that comes with the evenflo booster seat?

If it is the one that is on the end of a strap, at the end of the strap is a loop.
Feed the loop thru a small set of holes in the back of the seat. The seat should have 2 small, close to eachother, holes. It goes in one, out the other and then slide the clip thru the loop and pull it back tight.
The only other design I know of uses a screw to attach the belt, the clip is on, to to a nub with a hole in
it on the back of the car seat.
If by "clip" you mean the little bracket that looks like an "H" you thread the car's seat belt thru it, where the belt goes up to the highest point, and use the H clip to keep that part of the car's seat belt away from the child and car seat by weaving it behind the edge of the car seat.
Use Evenflo's site to download a free manual and it shows you how to do it. All you need is Model number and date of manufacture and it will give you your manual. Save it to your computer. Click this link.

How do you remove the cover and belts on an evenflo car seat with this number on the side 25801158?

Turn the booster seat around to the back and locate the metal splitter plate that the harness is attached to. Remove both harness straps from the splitter plate. Locate the TensionRight knob located on each side of the seat in the front by the baby’s foot area. Turn the TensionRight knob to the back as far as it will go to take up the slack on the splitter plate strap. Pull both harness straps through the seat back to the front of the seat. Remove the harness strap from both sides of the chest clip and from the buckle tongues. NOTE: Please leave the buckle tongues locked into the **** strap for storage. Remove the harness strap from the seat. NOTE: Reattach the chest clip to the harness strap so they don’t get lost. Turn the booster seat upside down and locate the metal harness anchor. Turn the metal anchor sideways and push it through the slot to the front of the seat.

I am having trouble adjusting shoulder straps

Funny, I was just putting this seat back together after taking it apart to wash it. It is a very difficult process, simply because you have to remember which order to loop the buckles through the stap.

First, I assume you want to switch from the lower holes for the shoulder, to the upper. (If not, then there is no adjustment needed. Unless the strap is caught in the back which will make the straps uneven when you go to tighten them. This has happened to me).

So, first you need to remove the straps. Once the seat is removed from the car, look at the back of the seat and you will see a metal bracket that is holding three straps. The bottom strap is not removable from that bracket. The top two strap are attached to the bracket with loops. Remove the straps by sliding them out (edge of the strap has to come out the hole first, then the rest will slide out very easily), Once out, from the front of the seat, pull the strap through the holes

At this point you must decide whether you simply want to adjust the seat, or wash it too. I highly suggest washing it if you haven't done so recently. If you gone this far, go all the way. But since you only asked to adjust it, and the method for removing the cover is much more complicated, we''ll move on to adjusting

Now that you have the straps pulled through, be sure that the straps are not twisted, and simply push them through the desired holes - upper or lower - and reconnect to the loops brace (remember, edge in first).

If you are having problems with the straps not being even when tightened (one side tight on shoulder, other side loose), remove the seat and look to see if the strap is caught on something.

I'm retiring my seat today after six years and two kids. I could use it up to 80lbs, but it makes it difficult to get to the third row of seats in my car. So now we have two no-back boosters.

How do I put back together the straps on my car seat

would assume you're talking like a booster seat with the back just no 5pt harness. You just buckle them up like you do. If they have those arm rest looking things, the part where it buckels goes under that one arm rest and the shoulder strap should go resting over his shoulder like yours. Some of them have a loop up top for the shoulder strap to go through. Just make sure that the toddler does NOT put their arm over the shoulder part of the belt. If you get into an accident this could break his/her ribs.
