Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

We get our TV by satellite, so a friend who's more electronically inclined than I connected our television, satellite box and the Toshiba SD-V295KU. He did not set the clock, and I could not figure out how to do so (when I followed the instructions the equipment dd not appear to respond). At that point we could record onto a cassette and play back that cassette but not time record. Same friend set the clock. Before we could try out time recording we had a power outage (big time snow in N. Idaho) and now I cannot make the player respond at all. My computer and the TV are not even on the same floor of my house but there's a telephone in the same room -- I really need to talk to a live human being. Can you help? I think there's probably nothing wrong or defective with the equipment, it's just not set up or connected correctly and I'm hopeless. Thank you. Judi Horton Coeur d'Alene, ID 208/665-0871

Can you connect a hd converter to a Toshiba cx 32 g60 tv

there isn't much point in connecting an hd converter the toshiba cx32g60. the tv can only support an sd signal (composite video or ntsc analog). however, many hd set-top boxes (dvd players, cable and satellite) have composite outputs. these can be connected to your tv. blu-ray videos can't be watched with this tv. (the hdcp (high definition copy protection) can't be sent through most converters.)

if you want to watch ota programming , the cheapest option would be to find an sd digital-to-analog converter. these were the ones sold when most stations switched to digital tuners. some are being sold off as people replace their old analog sets. there are some hd tuner boxes, like this one: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?mc=03&p=3500stb&d=iview-hd-dvr-receiverconverter-box-for-tv-antenna-qam-%283500stb%29&c=digital%20converter%20boxes&sku= , that have composite video output which will connect to the cx32g60.

i hope this helps.

(if you tried an hdmi to component video converter followed by a component to composite video converter, the signal may degrade excessively.)

How can I get my Toshiba Sd H400 to find satellite signal?

You have to use some of the special connections on the back to connect the Satellite box. It will not work with those you are trying. See the manual below:

How Can I record a TV program using my SD-V295KU. Where Can I chose the chanel number? Can You hepl me please? This is a DVD Video Player & Video Cassette Recorder.

The SD-V295KU has no tuner. You will need to connect it to a set top tuner, a cable or satellite receiver box. One of the digital-to-analog converters would work for OTA programs from a digital station. The basic ones that were available with the government coupon give SD output; this is sufficient since composite video is limited to SD.

Then connect the composite (audio and video) out from that box to the DVD/VCR composite in (the rightmost jacks). Then set the channel on the box and record content on Line 1 (Press Input Select on the DVD/VCR's remote to get to that input after you set the recording speed.)

Most TVs do not have a composite out option so the tuner in the TV can't be used to feed the program to the DVD/VCR.

I wish that I had better news for you.

DVD won't eject from Toshiba DVD player. I have already taken cover off and can manually engage the tray. When I try to eject with the remote I just get a little ''lock'' icon on my TV screen.

Press setup subtitle 3 audio 0 to unlock ...worked for me. Thank a user on Videohelp.com for solution:

Toshiba SD-V295KU DVD/VCR Setup

Hi, David.

This unit does not have a TV tuner built in. It can record only from a video/audio source such as a satellite receiver or cable box. That's why you can't find anything in the manual about programming a channel. It doesn't offer that capability.

Not the answer you were looking for, but that's what they give you. The only solution I can offer is to keep your old VCR or pick one up at a thrift shop, and use it as the signal source. Program it to come on at the desired time on the channel you want, and use its video/audio outputs as the source for your recorder. Program the recorder to start at the same time.

Kinda klunky, but it would work.

Connecting VCR to TV

Oh man dont shoot your stuff instead use your remote and go to your menu and select your input. You tv is looking at your coaxial input but you can select which input you want. 1, 2 front back whatever you need. channell 3 or 4 has nothing to do with connecting up your dvd if you connect and choose the front connection in your menu.

Connecting VCR to TV

If you have the original remote controller, try to switch inputs. It must be on the f-connection ( coaxial) at the moment. You need to switch it to RCA or S-Video Inputs.

I have the SD-V295KU DVD VHS combo. I cannot get the menu to come up on the screen. I have it connected to the cable converter box. Time Warner can't help me out. I have followed the directions, and the...

I was not pressing the call button which is not in the directions for setting the clock, which is where I started. At least I think that is what I was doing wrong. I read it later on a previous page where it explained how to set up the menu on the screen. The directions should really be repeated in the section where you begin to set it up on the screen.
