Question about Computers & Internet
Have had problems in the past where the monitor won't come on unless it is brought down to like a 45 degree angle, but now nothing happens. I have the recovery disks, but there are files I would like to recover. Any suggestions?
It sounds like either your display is turned off or the backlight went out. If you have a display selection button on your laptop(usually on one of the function keys), try that. If that doesn't work, try plugging it in to a monitor or other display and check if that works correctly. If it does, your screen either has a bad backlight or other physical problem.

If you get a display or splash screen then you may just have a bad hard disk or memory dimm. If you get nothing then it is a hardware failure beyond a simple fix. Get on the phone with Toshiba and get it fixed before your warranty is up.

SOURCE: Hi! I have a Toshiba
You need to plug it into an external screen to see if windows is loading. That way you will know if it the laptop screen it self or t something to do with the computer hardware.
If the fans am starting then you are getting power to the laptop however it may be shorting out just before bios as time to load so you will not get any display.
The best bet is to try and isolate the problem. Try attaching another montior to it and see if you get a display, this test is not always reliable because some laptops requires external monitors to be enabled using windows, so if your getting no output on the laptop screen it cant be done.
If you can get output using an external monitor then the monitor of the laptop may be broke or as become discounted from the motherboard.

Go to Toshiba's web site and look in the support section for the proper driver(s) for the version of windows you are running on your model.
