SOURCE: Norelco 835rx unused for 10 yrs, worked 1st time, then not.

The battery pack is, likely bad and will need replaced. Batteries don't hold up well sitting around for 10 years. The stress of charging may have finished off the batteries completely. When the batteries short out internally, the shaver wont run from the cord either. Before ordering batteries you'll want to make sure the old ones have not corroded badly and ruined the circuit board. To check it out, remove the four screws on the back and remove the back cover. Lift out the circuit board and inspect it to make sure there are no burns.

If everything looks to be in good shape, installing a new battery pack will probably be all you need to do. You will fin the correct battery pack at See link below

HQ5 is not compatible with HQ55. I've checked the Service Manual and HQ5 is the correct part. It's got to do with the driving mechanism for the head.

I have the norelco 5000 is is flashing a locked symbol what do i do

Usually, this means that the travel lock is activated. The travel lock prevents the shaver from being accidentally turned on. s an example in your suit case when traveling.
On most models, the travel lock is activated or deactivated by pressing in and holding the on/off button for 5 seconds

On off switch not working

Might be a silly question but are you trying to turn it on whilst the charger is connected to the shaver? Most (if not all) of the Phillips rechargeable shavers will only operate without the charger connected so as to avoid connection to the mains whilst in a bathroom etc.

I installed 3 new heads but the shaver just is not shaving off my 5 day old beard... It's battery seems fine as the motor seems to be running at normal speed. Confused Carl

Your Norelco shaver is not designed for cutting 5 days of growth. Your shaver is designed for cutting one, maybe two days of growth only. Use the trimmer on the back to cut the whiskers to a shorter stubble. Then the hairs will more effectively poke through the holes and slots in the combs allowing the blades to shave them as designed.
