Clothes Smell Bad After Washing Them.

Whenever the clothes are done from washing, I immediatly take them out and put them in a dryer and use fabric softener in the dryer. However, after a couple of hours or 2-3 days, they will begin to smell again and I don't know why. Is there a solution to completely prevent my clothes from having a bad odour to them after washing? My problem is similar - if I leave the clothes in the washer for even the smallest length of time, they end up smelling horrible when I take them out of the dryer...stale and rank. I have never had this problem with a washer before. I'm wondering if there is some build-up inside the front-load machine that is causing bacteria to thrive.

The following are the methods you can avoid odor in clothes.

  • Check that the drain line is clear
  • Check the drain hose for kinks or blockages
  • Check pump for blockages
  • Check for build up of soap in the outer tub
  • Check for article of clothing stuck in the outer tub
To do the above you might need some diagrams, they are simple. The following link might help you out in this.Good luck. Please do post comments if the problem is still not solved or if there are any doubts in this post.

Hi there! I had the same problem and after doing a little research have found an acceptable cure, actually I use three parts. #1 go to smellywasher.com and order this guys product, it is awesome and really works...well worth it. #2 After running a load, leave your washer door open. #3 Cut your detergent by 2/3rd's...we have succumbed to the "more is better" myth. It isn't and it isn't good for your machine, or the environment. Mostly, smellywasher.com

Wrinkles clothes terribly. Solutions.

Check your settings on your dryer. See if it's on a longer duration of time to dry. Dryers have different wording depending upon the make and model. If you're trying to dry smaller loads the heat settings s
does not have to be set for very long. Heavier, loads with thicker clothing will need to dry a little longer. When you take the clothes out of the washing machine, do you shake the clothes before putting them in the dryer? And do you use dryer sheets? Believe it or not, they're not only used to help make your clothe's smell fresh but they also help elevate static and a few wrinkles.

My washing smells after a wash, but the washing machine drum does not smell.

A solution from the internet: Make a boil wash (with no clothes and detergents) put into the powder drawer a cup of bicarbonate of soda. It should clean the machine and move out the bad smell. Another: I have a front loading machine also and am not willing to have to constantly clean out the machine; the soap and fabric softeners you use are building up between the inner and outer drums (and on the drum itself sometimes). Because the machines door is so tightly sealed (to prevent water leakage) the smell from this buildup is awful. I finally found the solution. MAGGIE'S SOAP NUTS -- they are all natural (grow on trees) and will remove the grime from your drum and also clean your clothes (you won't even need fabric softener anymore). Stop using commercial detergents and fabric softeners and start using Maggie's Soap Nuts. They are not very cheap but they work great -- I have found that making a liquid out of the soap nuts and storing it in a bottle works better than putting them in the sack cloth they come with (because front loaders do not agitate constantly like regular machines, the cloth bag sits on the clothes and sometimes leaves a stain -- the liquid will not leave a stain. YOU WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM AND HAVE SOFTER CLOTHES TO BOOT (without fabric softener so you save some money there). They are also better for septic tanks, the environment and your health! I believe Whole Foods sells them and they are also on the internet at www.Maggiessoapnuts.com Note: Also go to www.newstarget.com -- they are going to buy these in bulk to cut the cost in half but don't have them yet. You should be able to buy them there soon. Note: Forgot to tell you to run some of this thru your machine with hot water before washing your clothing to clean out the buildup that is already in the machine.

Washer/dryer smells like a dirty disclothe. I dont' use fabric conditioner and I have serviced was at 90 deg with no clothes in and biological powder but it still smell. I have only used the dry cycle...

Hello
What did the guys say the did the service on your washer? I recommend you add 3 scoops of dishwasher powder and set your washers temp to 90 deg and let it run the problem is that your clothes washing powder dose not remove any build up or smell.
Thanks

Don’t wait for the machine to jam to look into your filter.

You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use very hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Put the Affresh pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.

You can give me a ‘very helpful’ rating for the free help, can't you. Thanks.
