Question about Hotpoint FFM70 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
Hi, Woke up this morning to a noisy fridge freezer. I pulled it out and the noise appears to be coming from approx half way up behind the stuck on panel (I assume this is a fan?). Also the compressor is very hot to touch and the radiator is relatively cool. Other recent problems which we have largely ignored include occasional gurgling and freezer high temp warning light. We are trying to weigh up the cost benefit of having it repaired or investing in a replacement - any help is appreciated!

if i read the english right, the compressor runs but the freezer fan only runs for a short time. no fan then no cooling. there is a fan stat so that the fan only runs when the evap is down to temp. this may be faulty. also on some hotpoint, the fan switches off when door opened. check door switch operating ok. this may also explain problem with fridge lamp

It sounds as if the fan motor itself has failed, & without the fan, only the coils will get cold. A replacement can be obtained from any appliance parts store, or from Hotpoint...check the website. If you are not experienced in appliance repair, I suggest you call a repair person , as some of the fans can be difficult to replace, & it is easy to cause additional damage.

can you check the resistance of the fan?..or even the voltage going to the fan ( just be carefull ) if there is presence of voltage, then the problem is the fan, if there is none, you have to trace why. if it has a diagram, you an trace it. or the switch could have been open that is why it is not running. push the door switch if it has one and check again for presence of voltage. i hope i was able to help.

SOURCE: Hotpoint FFA70 Freezer High Temp
sum fans only kick on if cold enough
if the whole evap is frosted up u have a defrost problem
if frost is only partial u need to throw it out cause it either has a bad compressor or freon leak
check your fan by compressor and make sure coil isnt filthy too
