It seems that my router got into an endless cyclic self-check procedure. Powered on, all the LAN ligths are flashing around and around. IS this a physical fault?

Have you done any firmware update on the D-Link? Remove the ISP Ethernet connection. Pull the plug on the D-Link, wait 30 seconds or so, plug in, wait for selftest, reboot computer. If that fails, reset the D-Link to default settings. Reconfigure the SSID and Security Key. If all fails , the device may be bad.

WHAT LIGHTS ON LINKSYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BLINKING

Note that incoming traffic will cause the WAN (or Internet) light to blink even if it is 'probe' traffic trying to break in to your network. Such traffic is to be expected and is the reason you have firewall functionality in your gateway router.

On the inside, there is a bit of traffic on any LAN when the computers are turned on. Messages generated by the router itself are used to find computers and printers for a lot of different legitimate reasons.

With the router powered on, use a small thin object to press and hold the reset button for exactly seven seconds. The router lights will flash and this will restore the router to factory default. Connect your computer to one of the routers lan ports with an etherent cable. Open your web browser and navigate to 192.168.2.1. This should show the router status page with the default settings.

Forgot wpa/wpa2 key which i have costomized how can i reset?

On the rear panel of the router you'll find a small hole near the input/output terminals that is labeled "reset."
Use a toothpick to insert it into the hole and push it till you feel it click and hold it down until the router shuts off and the power LED begins flashing. Then release.

The router was working fine yesterday. I checked it today, and it isnt working anymore. I unpluged it, and plugged it back in, and no indication lights are illuminating. I have tried this several times and...

Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the unit.

Step 2 With the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button.

Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds.

Step 4 Release the Reset button.

Step 5 The unit will reboot. Allow 20-30 seconds before reconnecting.

Step 6 The device is now at factory defaults.
Note: Do not recycle power during the reset procedure.

When it says hold for about 10 seconds, don't hold for more than ten seconds or the procedure will likely fail, if ten seconds doesn't work try 5 seconds

For that you need to configure your router.Follow below procedure to configure it. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Network connects without router. Install router

is your router powered? make sure your router is powered properly.

are you connecting your computer to the LAN ports? (the ones with a number not the one that say WAN? connect your computer to one of the LAN numbered ports and check to see if you get a green light on the front pannel. if you don't have green light, try a different port until, if you run out of ports and still no green light try a different cable.

have you by any chance disable your lan ports? I don't know if it is possible on your router to disable some ports, if that's the case is better to start fresh and simply reset your router by pressing a reset button for a minute while your router is getting powered and retest to see if you a green light on the lan port where you are connecting your computer.

if all this fails, it's very likely that your router has died. replaced accordingly.

LAN led light alway on and flashing

Reset the router:
While the router is powered on press and hold the reset button for 5-10 sec. Release the button and wait until the router boots up (1 min).

If this does not work then you can try this

Try setting it into recovery mode and loading firmware:

Unplug power cable from the router and press the reset button. While holding the reset button plug the power cable in. Continue holding the reset button untill you will see LEDs on the router flashing rapidly.

You should be able to log into the router - you will see a prompt to load firmware. The firmware is available on our WEB site: http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/

Note - suggest you d/l the firmware BEFORE you reset router

CRC error??

"In simple terms, a CRC (cyclic redundancy checks) is bit of mathematics used to ensure that your data is OK when being transfered. It's a checking procedure that quickly identifies when data has been damaged. If you get this message, it means that the file being read by your PC or software is corrupted."

so, yes, the CRC error is most likly the problem.
