SOURCE: power on problem
Many of the later model Sony TV?s have a built in self-diagnosis function. AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks 5 times for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. In other words, the IC chips on the Cboard are burned out. This repair is not one that should be attempted by the end user. This repair will need special test equipment. You will need to take it in for repair. It shouldn't cost more than $170-$200. This is cheaper than a new TV set.

Hi, this is main board failure and you will need to replace this vital board. you power board is fine but, it is unable to send a proper current through the main mother board due to the damage at hand.

I had one with the same symptoms, the way i fixed it is by taking it all apart and resolder the system chasis grounds on the mother board, then reseting the motherboard's memory battery. A bit complicated for those with little knowledge on computer repair. You may have to take it to a computer shop, or try fixing it yourself. It took a while to figure it out.

Hello, what you are describing is unfortunately called the Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD). Although you have not technically got the yellow light as the console manages to stay on for a minute or so it is still exactly the same problem. When the PS3 was originally made Sony used lead free solder in their consoles. Lead free solder is not as flexible as normal leaded solder and over time due to expansion and contraction because of heat given off by the console's components hairline cracks formed in the solder joints between the CPU and GPU and lots of PS3's failed. You have got a couple of options, you can either have the console professionally repaired which is going to cost around £50. If the console is out of warranty Sony will only replace it for a cost of around £130. As a last resort if you are good with electrical items you might want to have a go at repairing it yourself. If you google YLOD you will find plenty of guides that will instruct you on how you can repair it yourself.
Please bear in mind that once a console has the YLOD there is NO guarantee as to how long a repair will last, it could be a couple of hours to a couple of years
Hope this helps
