a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I would advise knocking down the resolution. Try and use software, like red kawa, to convert a few of your movies to different formats till you find a decent one. A widely accepted codec setup is Divx/XVid (both are the same) and MP3 sound.

The supported files are .jpg, .jpeg, .mp3, .alb, .m3u and .pls. Progressive JPEG and JPEG2000 are not supported. MPEG1 Layer 1 and Layer 2 are not supported. The USB drive must be in a FAT (DOS) format. This is from the Annex 3 of the TV's manual.
I hope this helps.

I'd suggest connecting the VCR to one of the composite inputs on the set (Yellow, Red and White cable). Select that composite input, then tell the VCR to play. This will you give a slightly better quality picture than going through the tuner as you did on your old TV set.
