a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

If windows still boots ( and the original hard drive is still in the computer) you can click the start button and find the HP Recovery Manager under the All Programs list. It is probably tucked away under one of the HP tabs.
If windows doesn't boot, and you still have the original hard drive you can press F11 when your first turn it on at the HP logo screen. It should start the recovery program. (The F key can be different on different laptops but most recent HP's are F11)
Be careful, doing a System Restore will erase all your Data, so backup anything important!

you,ll need to go to compaqs support site, if theres a system recovery partition on your hard-drive. you press F9 or similar on boot-up. Alternatively is to try and aquire a system restore CD for that model. this will correct any faulty-corrupt Drivers et,c.

send me youre email and I'll give link for software to remove bios passwords safely.
when u say factory settings I assume you mean bios settings and not windows.unless u have a recovery program installed on pc you cant set windows back to factory .
but if you have recovery program installed this software will find and/or remove them and reset bios to factory.
it has many programs on it ...it starts from cd not hd or windows.
perfect for lost or unknown passwords

If your OEM is original from manufacture, and this option was installed. Restart PC, at the HP intro screen type "f11" 4 times, choose recovery, make shure you choose "restore to manufature settings" gl hope this works for you.
