Question about Canon EOS 600D Rebel T3i Digital Camera

Open Question

When I turn my Canon EOS Rebel T3i, my camera says 'Card cannot be accessed. Reinsert/change the card or format card with camera.' How do I fix this?

I had already taken pictures on my camera when this happened. I also already reinserted my card, but I do not know how to format it.

SOURCE: can CF card pin be repaired on a Canon Rebel?

I assume you mean one of the pins inside the camera body itself? This is quite a common problem and I believe it will have to be dealt with by a Canon Repair Centre. However it is not the end of the camera and is worth having done although I cannot say what the are charging at this time.

SOURCE: I have a new EOS

That sounds like an issue with the memory card. Yes you will lose all current photos on it when you format the memory card. It's also safe to leave the battery in the camera as DSLRs don't drain power when the camera isn't in use.

Very possibly! I use software from Easus all the time and I"ve been VERY pleased. The version that reads cards is FREE and can be downloaded here. Follow the instructions to the letter because with all data recovery solutions, you often only get ONE SHOT at getting it right. If you are not comfortable with any part of the process and/or the photos are of extreme import, I HIGHLY suggest you leave this to a professional in your are.

Remove the card and clean the contacts then re-insert checking first that you have not accidently locked the card. If that doesn't work try re-formatting.

Sounds like there was an error while the camera was writing information to the card. You can try reformatting the card using a computer and a card reader, then replace it in the camera and format it from the menu. If that doesn't work and the camera is locked up you can try to do a "hard reset" by following the instructions on page 176 of the camera manual.

It should be no problem getting it back with recovery software. Just try to stop taking any more photos or videos to lessen the chance of overwriting your lost video. See this article for instructions on how to recover deleted/formatted videos/photos.
