how would my 12v have been pulled off the headlights through the stereo wiring? i am pretty sure that the wiring for any car headlights wont be running to the back of the stereo loom.

Most newer stock stereos can have their display connected to the light switch to control the display as you would control the light level on your guages,so I was'nt trying to put you down or anything like that I'm just saying there is one wire there that is controlled by the light switch.

Most head units have connections that dim the backlights when the headlights are switched on. If you used that wire for the remote, it could cause the symptoms you described.

If your head unit doesn't have a remote turn on, use the ignition'switched wire to feed the remote turn-on terminal of the amp. Don't forget to fuse the wire at the point where you tap off of the ignition wire. A 1 amp fuse is more than enough.

The remote wire is probably hooked up to the illumination wire or the dimmer wire. One or both of those can be found behind the factory stereo. No big deal. Unhook that and find a 12v positive accessory wire. It will turn on and off with the key and the key only.

Installin car systems

you dont want to connect both of those amplifiers together. You could run them separately to separate subs or the jl to your sub and your alpine to your front speakers. But you dont ever want to mix and match amps to the same sub. Even if you had 2 jl500/1's you wouldnt want to just hook them up together. Because they both have to be putting out the exact same amount of power. Which no 2 amps are ever exactly the same. Some companies make bridges to properly connect 2 exact amps together. I Hooked up 2 JL 1000/1's to each voice coil on a 13.5 W7 and i smoked the sub. So i definitely dont reccommend doing it unless the amps are conneccted to separate things.

JL Amp isn't powering subs and speakers

silly as it sounds, you may want to check your EQ settings on your headunit. Things like sub volume, SLA, loudness and balance. When they replaced your battery, those old settings were lost.

This sounds odd, but try putting your subs out of phase from the mains. Just see if it changes anything.

My JL subs just dont beat like the ONES IVE HAD before as well as the ones my friends have had

sounds like they have your sub amp in mono but they put the speakers in series which totally cancels the benefit of running your amp in mono. you will probably be happier if you just hook the left speaker to left plus and minus and the right to right plus and minus. Cuz even though subs aren't directional they do pass some higher frequencies that are and that dilutes the stereo effect.

Car amp's stopped working. Putting out a heart beat sound through subs but no bass.

could be low current ,disconnect all power including ground for 20min N.B most amps will seem to be shorted at output but this is normal due to damping ratio.
