Question about GE DBXR463EBWW Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer heats with smaller loads

I have a GE dryer that is about 7 years old. While trying to trouble shoot what is exactly wrong I have noticed the following things
1) when disconnected from the vent dryer will heat(does not when connected)
2) The larger the load the less dryer that occurs i.e if I dry a small load it will eventually dry after a few cycles but larger loads never seem to dry
3) there seems to be limited exaust from the vent in the dryer, this might be due to the limited heat in the dryer itself

The fact that it does heat leads to believe the element is fine
thanks for the help

So even if the element seems to be heating up there could still be an issue with it? My first thoughts were to check the venting, from the dryer to my house foundation is fine(I need to check inside the dryer itself) I cannot check the outside venting since it runs under a deck that it surrounded by snow. But the fact that it still did no run properly even when unhooked from the vent led me to believe a sensor or fuse was blown. Thanks for the help

1. unplug your machine and rach as far in the exhaust part of the dryer to see if there is an obstrucxtion
2.Take out the lint filter and make sure there are no gaping holes in the screen
3. Check the exhaust house leaving the machine or blockage, this hose should not run more than ten feet for optimal drying time.
4. its your heating element

GE dryer dwsr463eg7ww timer isn't working and doesnt heat up

The heating element assembly warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the dryer won't stop, it may be because the heating element assembly isn't working - which greatly increases the drying time. Check the heating element for continuity. http://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Dryer/7-3-850356-/GE-Dryer-won-t-stop-DWSR463EG7WW

Ge front load dryer not heating three years old model # dbvh520ej2ww

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Dryer is about 5 years old. Has begun to squeak loudly when clothes begin to spin

Are you comfortable taking the dyer apart? There are just a few simple screws to remove. It sounds like a bad blower wheel. If you follow the link you should be able to trouble shoot the issue.

I press the start button and dryer will not start. 5 lights flash and beep but the dryer does not start

I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old
man who has been making his own repairs for about
50 years. Therefore the dryer ID doesn't mean very
much to me. Over the years, I haven't had much
trouble with my dryers. However I can refer you to
www.applianceaid.com where they have very good
trouble shooting and repair information on dryers and
other appliances. I think you'll find what you need
there. If you have an error code you can probably
find the meaning of it there. Good luck with it.
If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.

HOW TO FIX A NO HEAT ON A GE ELECTRIC DRYER OVER 10 YEAR OLD

Either one of 2 ways to get to the thermostat on a GE dryer.....

depending on your model, you will have an access point on the back of the dryer to get to the heating element which has attached to it, the thermostat.

If there isn't an access point on the rear of the unit, open the front door of the dryer and remove the 2 screws in the top of the door opening. Using a small prybar, slightly apply pressure prying up the lid. On the inside of the face of the dryer in the corners will be 2 more screws, remove those and pull the face of the dryer outwards to you to about a 45 degree angle. From there, you will be able to lift off the face. Be cautious to unplug the wires for the door switch before pulling the face all the way out. There isn't much to a 10 yr old dryer, just take your time, study the parts and put it back just as you took it apart. For the replacement thermostat or heating element look at

www.marcone.com

www.partstoday.com

Good luck and let me know if there is any more trouble I can help with.

GE Dryer

Sounds like an intermittant break in the heat element. Could also be an irratic control thermostat or bad connection somewhere between the line and the heater. Simple to isolate with a tester.
