Oh... Taking your DS apart is a huge no no! Only professionals should take apart your DS. That goes for other items as well.

I suggest that you take it to a professional and have your DS refurbished. Refurbishing makes your DS like new, and can cost anywhere from $70 - $90, depending on where you take your DS to be refurbished.

Hope it helps~

Changed bottom screen tested before putting back

Hi,

Happens sometimes it is one of two things:
1) When you put the DS back together is the ribbon from the top screen wound to tightly as this can cause the ribbon to pull out slightly from the socket on the motherbaord causing the blackout.
2) I have seen this happen only once before! The plsatic of the shell had a small chip where the battery connectors from the motherboard stick through into the battery compartment. THis tiny piece of plastic was stopping the final connection between battery and DS. Drove me mad, did all the usuals checked battery connections etc. Worht a look.

Ds problem

Oh dear, sounds like someone has replaced the bottom screen in the past with a none genuine DS screen that has no insulator on the back.
There is a very good chance the motherboard is toast now, to use a technical term, but there are some small chances here.
If the insulator is there, its like a black tape on the back of the screen, put some more tape where you see the burn marks. Put it together try it. next make sure the top and bottom screen ribbons are good and i mean no nicks or heavy dents. If you find one replace it, also make sure they are plugged in properly. Sometime the look like they are but are actually not.
Lastly you could try replacing L2, the small rectangular thing next to the power switch.
All I can say is good luck.

Broken power switch

Look on the well known auction sites. Some are selling the switch. Ask them if they could also replace it for you. I could do it for you but I'm in Europe, so a little to far

NDS powers on then back off

i think you have answered that question yourself but what i would do, find a game repaireshop near by, and they will repair anything to do with game consoles, it should cost too much either, so its either them or the trash or try your pot look, learn a bit more and you might probably be able to fix it yourself, dont give up just yet, believe in yourself and concentrate

Nintendo ds

Hi Tracey,

I have very good experince in repair of the DS. It is very very Complicated and loaded with detail, that if I told you what to do and how, it would take up to an hour to write. I know where all the ribbon cables go and how to hook them up and how to thread the ribbon cable and wire from the flip up monitor to the base.   Allow me to offer to repair your DS, and I will offer the reasonable price of $20 including return shipping.  No charge if I  put it back together and it still doesn't work. All of the DS Consoles I have put back together worked good. I have not rebuilt a DS lite before.  I am sure it is even more complicated.

I run the website www.playstationclinic.com, you can contact me from there if you like.
