SOURCE: Does Dell PowerEdge 4600 Server support DVD ROM

I am working on one of these now and yes, it should boot from DVDROM. Be aware that it is a notebook style drive and there are no onboard IDE or SATA controllers, so once the drive dies you're in for a wallet hit. Same goes for the floppy drive which is integrated with the DVDROM. Even worse, the presence of the broken floppy usually means a USB floppy drive won't help when loading windows drivers at install time.

Dell poweredge 2600 server recently display a message " No boot device available Press F1 to reboot or F2 to setup" Please why?

Did you experience a power event? Go to BIOS (F2), and make sure that RAID is Enabled. If RAID got turned off (power event, BIOS reset), then it will give you that message. If RAID is already enabled, then you may need to repair your operating system. If something else happened (drive failures, drives removed, etc.), then the array may be completely gone. Call Data Recovery services if it is critical you retreive the data.

I have a slider window I need to remove to bring in a pool table, can't find any screws to remove ,found only a tag with this info AAMA SPONSERED S/N720 315004

There are tension wheels on the top and bottom (2 at each end) of the slider window. You have to lift the slider window and lift the bottom wheels off the track to be able to remove the window. The reverse to reinstall.

try turning usb support on in the bios,if this doesnt work try reseting your bios this should return it to default, hit f2 as it restarts when you are in. hit alt e alt f it should beep everytime you do this, what this basically does is clears nvram, go to boot devices and see what you have available, exit and retry your boot device

1600sc second CPU

Hi

Yes, some systems (newer PowerEdge Servers, generally 6/7th Generation and above) have onboard VRMs.

1600sc is a 6th gen PowerEdge (with Simple Computing). I can checked and be absolute certain from within Dell. I'm on VAC until Saturday.

In the meantime, check the PRC model and revision and ensure that they match. Given that a single PRC POST/Boots, try upgrading (if not already) the system BIOS to latest revision.

If the PRC model/revision does match and you have the latest BIOS version, also if the VRMs are not needed, then from the Troubleshooting you have already done, we may conclude that the PRC 2 slot is faulty.

I will confirm the VRM query on Saturday.
