Question about HP Compaq Motherboard

DV9734TX Indicator LEDs not on, but the computer works fine!!?

1. The indicator LEDs (the Power ON, AC/Charging, and the Hard Disk Activity) are not working on my DV9734TX, but the computer works fine (the battery life is poor, though). What could be the issue here? 2. What exact mother board is used in DV9734TX?

Agagin, kindly note that the systems works fine, except for the fact that the Wireless/Blutooth is always on, and the slider switch, which is right next to these three indicator LEDs (viz., Power On, AC Connected/Chrging, and Hard Disk Activity indicators). Since these AND the wireless/bluetooth slider switch are right adjacent (and the laptop works fine except for these mentioned stuff), is there a possibility that some cable/wire/connector supplying them is dead?? If this indeed could be the case, does any one know how to access that cable/connector and connect it back? Also, does it mean that someone OPENED my laptop and put it back together and in the process forgot to connect the offending cable/connector?? This possibility is far more concerning for me, as many folks have pysical access to it theough not to my password. Really appreciate if any of the experts out there could kindly throw some light on how and why the laptop works OK except for the three indicator LEDs and the wireless/bluetooth slider switch!

SOURCE: defective mother board

check all your memory sticks, reseat them in thier slots, also reseat any addin cards (video, sound card, etc.)
I would also have the powersupply checked before i acuse the motherboard..all the lights can come on , and if the power supply is missing one of its' voltages, the computer wont start. causing just what you described.
physically inspect all the capacitors on the motherboard (lil round can looking components), particularly the ones around the CPU fan: if any of these are swollen OR swollen & leaking fluid the motherboard will most likely have to be replaced.

My daughters Toshiba satellite l505d will not boot up correctly. It starts but then nothing happens. What do I need to do. Have already taken battery out and restarted. Any help would be helpful.

Try the following.
1. Remove battery and plug in the AC Adapter and check if it works
If yes - Battery is defective
If no - Motherboard Problem/AC adapter

2. Check the AC adapter LED indicator if its lighted or not(double check by a multitester)
If lighted - it works properly
if not - replace
3. Try to reinstall WINDOWS operating system by the use of the installer CD
4. Reformat your computer and install necessary drivers and applications

Thanks. Cheers!

Does not power on although charging led is on....

You may have a defective battery. Depending on the notebook and battery, try one of following procedures to confirm if this is merely a battery problem:

1. Examine the battery to see if there is a built-in charge status indicator on it. These will be a series of LEDs and a button that, when pressed, will cause one or more to illuminate. If none of the LEDs illuminate, even after the unit has been charging for some time, you probably have a bad battery. Or

2. Remove the battery from the notebook, attach the power adapter, and turn on the computer. If the computer runs WITHOUT the battery installed, you probably have a bad battery.
